Philomel, mistreated by her adopted father, Emperor Eustis, finds a book of "prophecy" in the garden titled "Ellensia, the Imperial Princess" which details her misfortune and demise at the hands of her adopted father and his "real" daughter, Ellensia. After reading it, she embarks on a journey to become befitting of the crown in a desperate attempt to survive. Along the way, she meets her real father, the Magic Tower Master Leguin and her three half-brothers: Lexion, Cadin, and Jeremiah.
