Estella Artur became a knight under disguise as her fake twin brother Estien after her father passed away. 3 years into knighthood she encounters the crown prince of Alzen in Udard forest. This meeting eventually leads to a deal between them where she promises to act as Estella (double gender bender haha) to get engaged and married to him for 5 years in order to assure his ascension to the throne. The crown prince has already had 7 fiances who all have faced miserable ends; 4 dead and 3 outcasts. The cause is Empress Albina, his stepmother, and her children. She wishes her eldest son to become the Emperor so she has stopped the crown prince from marrying by hurting his betrothed. Estella leans into this mission and starts discovering disturbing things about the Empress and her palace. It seems most likely that they are witches, a type of monster with witch magic. They can somehow infect humans which is unknown of before. At the same time Estella and the prince are slowly but surely falling for each other. Right now: Princess Constance has revealed to Estella the truth about witches and that Estella's mother was a witch! Hence, Estella is a seed that will eventually bloom into a witch! At the same time Estella has received a confession from Leo who reveals he has known for a while that she is a woman.
