Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji
Sigh... This was just another shoujo manga. There was the classic and casual homophobia and fatphobia, not to mention the constant reinforcement of toxic gender roles. And I found this manga to be discernable from other shoujo stuff by how it blatantly glorified the mistreatment of romantic partners. If the story was meant to show "romance goals" or whatever, I feel very sad for all of the impressionable young people who've read it. It bothered me a lot that Erika was so fixated on changing Kyouya's feelings when his feelings don't change anything about his personality or behaviour. In other words, regardless of whether or not he loves her back, he's still a rude, manipulative ass. If he hadn't been such a douchebag, I might have been persuaded to care about the relationship between Erika and him. Really though, too much of this manga was innocently (ignorantly) problematic for me to find it enjoyable.
