Hosik's story

Complete | Nokchae | 2017 released

4.5/5 I really liked this story. I think the beginning of their relationship was rough because of the non-con but the further into this story I got the more I lovd them! Starting off… I love an obsessed and possessive seme, add mpreg and you already have my heart! That being said I think that this was a lovely story with a mostly beautiful plot. It has a lot of slice of life so I kinda got bored at some parts but they were very cute! The author is definitely a mastermind with this love story that descends through time. I think that hosiks and sunbaes past lives are so sad but beautiful. Knowing that they eventually get their happy ending after all the pain they went through makes me happy. And while hosik and sunbae both have flawed personalities, I feel like their personalities fit them with all their history. You can see their personalities change in each timeline. Hoyeon and soyeon are so cute! A couple of the side stories got kinda weird but we can ignore that. I kind find hosiks friends annoying. While I feel bad for hosik, I eat all the drama up. Sunbae loves to gaslight but it’s funny. Hosik ends up having a one night stand with his sunbae and ends up pregnant even though he’s a man?! He tries to avoid sunbae and deal with it by himself but his overbearing sunbae won’t leave him alone. This story shows them having kids and having their ups and downs. It also has amazing side stories that show their past lives. I also used to hate the amnesia chapters but now I love them. It proves that since Will love hosik no matter what. I will say one of my critiques is that for the longest time it didn’t feel like hosik loved sunbae, he was just staying to be responsible and he only treated sunbae with respect. I also kind feel bad for soyeon because you can tell hoyeon is their favorite.

Bloody Sweet

Complete | Lee Narae | 2000 released

4.5/5. This manhwa was so good! The first story ark was my favorite because personally I found it to be more meaningful. I felt for Naerim on a personal level and even saw some parts of myself in her. This author has made a good depiction of bullying, specifically in Korean high schools. None of the bullying was fair or deserved but kids spin things in their own ways that justify their actions, and even make them feel powerful for them. I hated Hina with my whole soul. She was one of the most insufferable antagonists I’ve ever read about personally because she was just a horrible person. She didn’t have a sad backstory she was just a spoiled brat who manipulated people into doing things for her. I’m sad she didn’t face worse consequences but I’m happy she had no redemption ark. On top of the bullying Naerim delt with an absent mom and her only support system was a vampire using her for her blood. The second ark was more centered around fetechous past and focused more on the romance. In the romance department of this story, I wish we got more of it because that is a driving factor in the story. I get that they cared for each other so much that they don’t need to be together romantically, even though they want to be, but I just like romance and wish there was more of it. For fetechou I wish he verbalized how much he cares for naerim to her face. Honestly I liked fetechou, he was funny and sweet but idk, I just wish we got more from him.Now for the other two protagonists… I kinda liked Roxana just as much as I hated her. I like the nuances of her personality. She has been wronged by people her entire mortal life. She was called a witch, abused and raped just because of the family she was born into which is sad. I support her getting revenge on humans, just like I supported fetechous revenge, but she just never quit. Her hate for humanity made her the abuser that she hates. Laszlo is just there, he supports Roxana but he honestly isn’t much of an antagonist. He’s not progressive enough. But I think that Sammi becoming his master at the end was funny. Sammi was a funny little cutie. Naerim was so cute with her reactions. I guess the things that are stopping this from becoming a five star is the ending just didn’t really hit for me and I kinda feel like there were some loose ends we could have talked about more. Also why’d jina have to show up right after we finally got rid of her, ew. Also what happened to the priest dude that worked at the school?! I also wish they’d talk about naerim and fetechous self harm, but they just glossed over it. Also the authors side stories were a little weird. I think that it’s a good thing fetechou never had to follow Roxana’s orders when she was still a witch because he would feel 10x worse with all the shit she’d make him do. And finally, the last couple of pages to this story, on the beach, had me balling my eyes out. Omg, it was so bittersweet. That last part was definitely my favorite part of the whole story. Naerim is horribly bullied in high school and have no support systems since her mom is absent. One day she goes on a trip where she meets a vampire and ends up making a contract with him. In exchange for her blood he protects her, but they quickly grow closer and he helps Martin’s with her mental health and surviving high school. After naerims conquer of her bullies she becomes a shaman like her mom and is happyish but fetechou still wants to become human, in order to die. Naerim and fetechou confront villains from his past and he decides he is brave and loves naerim so much he wants to stay with her until she dies. Also this has one of my least favorite tropes which is when the ml goes behind the fls back and works/sides/gives into the antagonist(specifically one who wants the ml romantically) just to save the fl. Then everything gets resolved and they never really talk about it.
