ch30 [chapter 9] Anthill = Formicarium The world is comprised of many districts. Among them, Luna and Formicarium hold the most influence. 
To distinguish between districts and provide protection, each district has a symbol that its citizens tattoo onto their bodies. Those who are not official citizens of any district and therefore have no tattoo are known as « Grays ». Formicarium has two official tattoos. If the ant or the triangle is not included in the tattoo, it is considered illegitimate. (It is common in Formicarium to trick Grays into thinking they’ve received citizenship by giving them an illegitimate tattoo.) [chapter 14] The Boundary Land remain neutral territory, not owned by any district. District summit : every three years Citizens can get a district tattoo once they reach adulthood. Only those who can present an official certificate of citizenship are able to get an official tattoo. A special pigment used in the procedure renders illegal fakes impossible. Grays are those who do not belong to any district. Not only are they not protected by any district's legal system, they are not able to receive regular services in official districts. Hate-crimes against grays are common. Cleanup crews take care of issues that would be difficult for districts to handle through legal means. They also go through districts looking for Grays to capture and sell off for a profit. Ironically, everyone involved in the Cleanup crews are Grays themselves. These Grays operate out of a home base of their own known as « the cradle » and use secret passwords and uniforms to identify one another. [chapter 16] - Luna District leader: Alex Luna (Victor’s big sis) Run by the Luna family for generations. Diverse groups of people live freely here but it is rampant with criminal activity. - Formicarium District leader: Jin (Victor’s ex lover) Comprised of elites who abide by strict rules and societal expectations. Has all the latest medical advancements. In order for non-citizens to receive medical treatment, they must pay hefty sums. Economic inequality is extremely high. - Liveta District leader: Victor Luna Located at the edge of the boundary. Often encroached upon by Formicarium and seen as the black sheep of the districts. Once something close to a wasteland, ever since Victor moved there five years ago it has been transformed into a liveable community. - Yohan (Gray) [CHAPTER 13] - Simon (Yohan’s bro, 2 years younger, ill) - Victor Luna (real name Noah) - Van (Alex’s right hand, then Victor’s keeper) [CHAPTER 25] - Hozer (Van’s grandfather, pub owner), Ian (Gray, server) - Theon (Yohan’s friend)
