The worldbuilding is interesting but I don't get why people call the couple romantic or wholesome. She's timid, later scared of him, but very much in love with him and the guy treats her coldly and pushes her away, then abuses her physically and psychically, wants to kill her, and she stays because her kind only loves once, what's wholesome about this? It's sad and pitiful

The ML is extremely unpleasant even when he's in love with the FL. He doesn't care about her worries, feelings or opinions. I wonder why he even loves her. Is it as he said- because she can't refuse him? The FL is an extreme doormat, willing to forgive everything if only the ML is honest, but he couldn't even do that. I kept reading only to see her leave him but it took her almost 80 chapters!!! I wish I didn't read it
