Eternal Covenant
This is absolutely fascinating! The MC being so different from his past self makes the story seem more real and relatable in a sense. So the Cardinal turned out to be the King's twin younger brother...I knew that there was a connection between the two but this was unexpected. I even had the thought that they looked alike but I left that to be the author's style since some authors have a distinct style that appears across their various work *ahem* Love Shuttle..The King's love for Ian is so noble and pure that I feel cleansed just by witnessing it and the Cardinal's is more twisted, possessive and dark. He imprinted himself on the young Ian and brainwashed him. So while Ian feels so much love towards Jack, he still feels guilty and indebted to his 'saviour'. The little kid was so cute but ended up being used as a pawn to lure out Ian. Ian being so anxious and on edge about Brian and him feeling jealous is valid since the tales about their bond and love is rampant in the kingdom. At first I brushed it off but him feeling that way is normal considering where he came from and how he lived until now. If he fails in regaining his memory, he won't become the 'Brian' that Jack cares so much for and he feels that his love is directed towards 'Brian' and not 'Ian'. Also their personalities are polar opposites, Brian seems to be a nice childhood and grew up being loved while the same cannot be said for Ian. Um..Sienna I know that you mean well but u are proving yourself to be a nuisance. The bodyguard though I like, since he is so collected and does his duty well. Brian essentially made up the King's personality. He taught him things from the scratch. How to handle people, how to feel and even his demeanor towards people is based on Brian himself.
The Empire's Hidden Hope
Strong fl alert.. I love Donghyeong..please tell me him and the MC are endgame..crossing my fingers..the political aspect of this manhwa is not that intriguing imo..it is just there I feel like. Also the nightmares the MC has cuz of her guilt of letting the kids die..super sad but that didn't necessarily make me feel..anything. Like it's pretty common and basically a staple for an MC to have a tragic backstory for motivation in this type of stories. Tbh this is pretty mild in comparison. Also the MC's amnesia doesn't have any like real implications or significance..just memories she shared with Donghyeong. Her living as a boy..that's also a staple in this type of stories. The Emperor is ok..acting dumb when he is infact a genius so he could fool minister Shin who is the puppeteer and runs the country..Also responsible for the MC's family's death and for framing her father for some crimes. I hope Hwan isn't the ML..he's a nice guy..don't get me wrong..just not the right guy for MC..the way he looks at the MC makes me a bit worried.
The Fallen Duke & the Knight Who Hated Him
The Duke isn't my favourite. For seemingly having lived in poverty for a year, he is still incredibly naive and doesn't shed off the nobility mindset. He is such an incompetent person, I just know for that one year that he was with the Saint. He didn't lift a finger and the Saint took care of him in every way. The first prince...I despise. The second prince..not enough info. The Duke's vessels are all good people though. Carlton isn't that bad. I would despise nobles too. He has more patience than I would give someone with his background and history credit for. He is also a smart lad since he made some arrangements when he felt something amiss. Not capturing the Duke's vicinity in one day eventhough he could and not letting his pride get in the way when his suspicions about the first Prince was proven true.
I’m the Villainess, but I’m Happy Because I’m Healthy
Fatphobia? A hint of it but it's not as extreme as some other manhwas. I don't like how everything is immediately resolved after she lost weight. We also know that the final bosses (the marquis and the crown prince) fancies her so it is the same old. Now going from a cute little brother to a man is nothing new. I love how doting her parents are to her too. Also I hate how unfair it is that her magic attribute: strengthening allows her to eat whatever she wants and the calories turn to mana or adds to her magic. Ugh I wish I had that. I read upto Ch6 btw where she turns down the narcissistic crown prince whose world revolves around main characters and supporting characters.
The Baby Concubine Wants to Live Quietly
Such a tempting title and a big thumbs up on the cover page Okuuurrr...it's aight. I do like her attitude, she doesn't act like a child and has her guards up. Her inner monologues are what u would expect from someone in her position, not some person simping over their potential killer's look. She completely adjusts to the body she possesses and in her flashback, she looked the same (so there might be something more to it?). And it seems in contrast to how the concubines treat her in the novel, they care for her and pity her. Sounds awfully convenient but heyyy...you do you. The translation could be better. Is the emperor a woman? Why does it refer to the Emperor as 'her'? And the concubines are male and female. So is the setting that advanced to have male concubines in the open? And supposed that person with the blindfold is a woman. How about Garam? I'm 100% sure that it's a male. There is upto 9 chapters currently
I Thought It Was Time!
Aaahh! I absolutely adore this manhwa. The ML is a puppy with a lot of insecurities and abandonment issues, and the MC is a pretty girl who is talented in healing magic and who is misdiagnosed with an incurable disease (will only live for 3 months supposedly). But it was good in the long run, since it gave her the push it needed to leave her abusive family and find happiness for herself. She has a bunch of things she wants to do in her bucket list, one of which was to have a lover. That lover turns out to be the cursed Duke. The Duke is a good person in general, but with the MC endearing personality and her warm actions, he starts to like her after pushing her away. They deal with miscommunication but it is resolved relatively soon with the MC's efforts. And things like sex are being said freely so I was a bit taken aback at first. Also the ML's insecurities is totally valid since his curse makes his skin rotten so he avoids skinship. He cares deeply for the MC so he tries to abide by the rules of the dating book given by his butler, one of which was to take things slow since their partner might be bored and also not to be too jealous. The latter I was pleasantly surprised by since the ML in other manhwas are not as considerate and have been jealous for milder reason. Here the priest is straight up like 'I'mma steal your girl'. The priest is the next pope to be because of the immense holy power he possess that is unique and powerful. So he gets surprised when the MC can heal him because only someone of the same level can heal another person, thereby speaking of the capability of the MC. He only sees her as someone to be used initially but later grows fond of her and tries to seduce her but to no avail. Then, he resigns to his fate somewhat and admits to himself that the MC is looking at someone else even as she is with him. The two leads are not as yandere as I am familiar with and that's a good thing (don't get me wrong). What more, the ML was cursed when he was a child and the mage who cursed him has since died so it is that much harder to cure him. The priest came from a humble background so there is a senior priest that is bitter that he gets to be the pope. The MC's family is trash, her older brother is jealous of her for her talent (she has an immense mana and powerful magic). Her parents didn't allow her to train but a trainer found it wasteful to leave it be so they trained her in secret. That's it for now. Currently upto Ch28.
A Saintess Who Was Adopted By The Grand Duke
I actually really like this. This was unexpected. This reminds me of 'A way to protect the loveable you', such an awesome manhwa btw. I love how her family is so caring towards her, the Dad is such a wonderful father not only to her but to the twin boys as well. The dynamic between Esther and the twins are different but so right. Like the elder one is more serious so he found it harder to accept her and needed to test her but he wasn't being an ass about it. The other twin is more sociable so they got close pretty soon and it's cuz of him that she got adopted so hurray!! I love that he gave her a piggyback ride and he was the first person that she opened up to. That is so special and I like that the other twin found out about the fact that Esther is the saintess based on the signs and how that ties back to how he mentioned that he wanted that very book that contained that info to his dad. This is a very well-written book. Also it's blatantly obvious that she is their sister, no doubt about it. She also got the name she was supposed to receive from her mother in this life. I like that she got this life by her own effort and not some cliche shit. The male lead is very witty for sure. I don't mind his personality unlike some comments tho I do get where they are coming from since she is still healing and all. And the way he asked her to stay by her side didn't come from a bad place but it wasn't necessarily out of the goodness of his heart either. But I prefer that over him being whipped for her out the gate. I love how he dismisses Ravien as well.
I Hated It Even More
This is a dumpster fire. The plot is all over the place, the characters don't make sense and the translation is shit. I don't understand anything, it feels like the MC is oppressed by her incompetent parents yet seems to be the one running the duchy behind the scenes (or maybe they are a marquis household). It's confusing. Anyway the sister isn't as annoying as I thought she would be based on first impressions. The ML is not as influential as the mahwa makes him seem or maybe the author sucks ass at writing a coherent plot.
Reemployment Life With An Unsociable Untalkative Magician
Such a long title. Hope the fl is smart. That's it. Update (9/9/23) : This was such a pleasant read. Lucille is so mature and capable, she also doesn't poke in other people's business. I was worried about that at first because MCs in shoujo manga tend to be an airhead, clumsy and a damsel in distress. I agree with Deidei on the fact that she gives off older sister energy. Speaking of Deidei, I love that she decided to pursue higher education and grow out of her 'childish' phase learning from the five days experience she had under Lucille's wing. Straight away we can see that she likes Sensei, wanting to talk to him and blushing. When she admits defeat after she saw Lucille putting her hands together before a meal or was it after? Not sure.. That was funny. She is like a younger sister, so adorable. The amount of work that Lucille does is something no mortal man is capable but I loved that Deidei persevered. Sensei being a respectable magician is not surprising but him being the reason that the town specialty came to being was amazing. He could just flick his hands and the problem would be solved yet he decided that the townsmen should be able to continue it and be responsible for their future is commendable. That earned him being called 'Sensei' by the townsmen and a special bond between him and the town. I love how they react to him as well, they looked as if they would pass out when he visited their store and when he complimented their handiwork, the couple praised themselves that their effort was seen and so on. I like Raven as well. He isn't a douchebag who would spill everything about his co-worker to his master yet does the minimum for ensuring his well-being. Also I like how he admitted that seeing Lucille's and their master interaction was the only interesting thing happening in that otherwise boring household and has manners. I also like that he told her that he conducted an investigation on her by hiring detectives and said sorry if she found that creepy. What else? I hate the Master and Mistress but I find them amusing as well tbh. The Mistress called MC a thief yet wasn't even sure if her husband and her cheated (tho I get where she is coming from since she was a servant employed by them). The Master being deluded that Lucille liked him back when she was just doing her job like calling him 'Master', putting a forced smile while serving him, giving him tea when he coughed. The Mistress being flirty with other noblemen while she is worried that her husband might cheat on her. It was confirmed that he divorced her and replaced the servants so he seems to like her more than I expected. Sensei's and Lucille are honestly so wholesome, I like how comfortable they are around each other and care for eo.
