Codename Anastasia
Was really excited for another secret agent BL, but honestly this is not that well-written. MC is such a liability as a spy because he does not know how to act as someone who is undercover and is too suspicious when he blurts out observations that are supposed to be analyzed internally (e.g., when he got kidnapped, if you were a trained spy you probably would not expose yourself like that). Another issue is he trusts too easily; exhibit A: telling ML all his personal shit when he’s seen firsthand how that man is a powerful, crazy, sadistic, and shady man. I know the mission is above MC’s qualifications, but I feel like it is basic for an undercover agent to possess a sense of caution and danger. Aside from that, be warned that there is straight sex in this. I don’t mind it when it’s 70% plot, 30% smut, but this kind of turned me off since we’re obviously not here for straight sex lol. I will still keep reading this since I’m still curious to see where the story goes and if I’m right about ML’s intentions. Will binge once it has a substantial amount of chapters.
Dawn of the Dragon
I definitely have mixed feelings about this one. It’s not bad, I liked it more when we were getting to the flashback parts cos now we get to know more about the plot and how hyo-un and taehyuk’s fates tied together in the past. There are a few plot holes but it’s not that noticeable or you would question it for a second but then just move on. I think the only major problem I have is that there are a number of sex scenes that start out as dubcon/noncon, especially during the flashbacks. It is what it is but again just a warning for other people out there who do not like this. Another concern I have (but it really is up to the interpretation of the reader) is that taehyuk in the past has definitely built a father-son relationship with hyo-un which gives the moral dilemma of a romantic and sexual relationship even though technically hyo-un wasn’t a “child” child, just had the maturity of a child (even in present time). Let’s also add the brother’s obsession over taehyuk lol. Anyway, curious for the next updates and I am praying for taehyuk’s past, present, and future bussy cos hyo-un is too big
The Tosa's Master
Since this was a short manhwa, I’m probably not going to nitpick much on the development and all, I think the general pacing and development was okay for a short manhwa. Though I definitely have mixed feelings about the development of the uke’s feelings, it did feel a bit more rushed despite him having a reason to believe why his feelings are the way it is. Obviously not the best psychological story there is, but it’s not the worst, it probably could’ve been done better if it was longer tho. Warnings: SA, Master-Slave Relationship, and overall just a toxic duo.
Yuutousei wa Unmei no Akai Ito ni Sakaraitai
This better have more future chapters cos there’s still a lot to address + their kiss
Naked Sword and the Tree Peony of Black
I don’t really have any strong feelings for this manga since I’m not the biggest fan of Touma, mans was too obsessed, the portrayal though was light-hearted so it didn’t bother me too much. For some reason I wasn’t feeling the reveal that they were both pining for each other even though it made sense. They were definitely cute though once they got together and finding out Kengou was the bottom was a pleasant surprise (yes I know the cover makes it obvious but u never know touma could have been a power bottom for all I care).
Smoke Blue no Ame Nochi Hare
Bl manga (more specifically japanese ones though) with older men really have a mature (?) and superior connection and affinity towards each other which makes their story seem so rich, tender, and realistic all at the same time. The manga’s pacing is very good and you really could feel that the author put some excellent thought and care into telling their story and not just making it about sexual relations between two men. This needs more updates.
