Ienekonora wa Oogataken ga Nigate
2020s? Some guy moves in with this antisocial vtuber cuz he needs a place to stay. He starts one sidedly becoming attracted to him. I feel the way life is depicted is too easy. Like acquiring jobs or securing a career in their desired field. Fiction doesn't need to be like real life, but this just actively made me disconnect while reading this in a negative way. No gravity is given to any of that, but rather the silly romance plot. Like main character, gets turned on seeing some mildly provactive fan art of love interest's vtube character & has a "steamy" dream from that. It was weak, like what is he, a virgin?! Further on, without getting to properly know him at all, mc already jumps to, "I LIKE YOU" in a really forward way. Then he forces himself on love interest. This really doesn't abide by any sort of common sense. As a result, character actions feel dumb. It's execution is weak. From the shallow inclusion of video games to the characters, the world, & their relationship. It's meh
Haven
2021. Two brothers like fucking each other. That's the story. It has nonsensical logic. Everything could use more detail, visually & story wise. Frustrating because I don't like the main pair. Drawings could definitely be better, especially in how they draw bodies-- they do the thing where uke has big hips during sex... I dropped at ch. 15.
My Childhood Friend Is Too Provocative for Me
Two boys grew up together as childhood friends. As they grew older, one ghosted the other for an unknown reason. The main character finds his friend again, & wants to rekindle their past friendship, & maybe something more! I like how the author so far, explores the childhood friend's insecurities & issues. Certain actions seem dumb, but when put in perspective, became more understandable, to me. His emotions were valid & I empathized with him. Update: From posing, drawing style & expressions, love interest feels like a woman. Feels more heteronormative & turns me off Update: This story feels like it's going in circles. There's not much fof a story or set of goals or idea we're building to. Just momentary dramab which feels silly. Update: The story is about how this couple navigates their new relationship. I feel like this doesn't have much of an idea for a plot to work to. It's minor drama. Update 2/26/22, End: Awwww now that I finished this, I appreciate it so much more. Now that I see where it ends, I have a better understanding of what the author wanted to accomplish: she wanted to show their relationship. It's just the main characters going from childhood friends to lovers, & adjusting to their new relationship. Simple idea. It's really too bad the author wasn't able to show everything she wanted & had to cap it at 30 chapters. The drawings were really pretty & the sex scenes were erotic. She has an art style which lavishly draws & colors & you can see the work put in.
Busamen Danshi -Ikemen Kareshi no Tsukurikata-
2021. So many problematic elements to this. There's all kinds of fetishes here like, Threesomes, NTR, Rape play, Crossdressing, Somniphilia. Most of it, I surprisingly like! This is so indulgent in all the fun ways! I loved the threesomes & the NTR with Ichinose was waaahhhh ️ It opened a new world to me hehe. I love all the options for partners in this. It's like trying a bit of everything ️ Stuff I didn't like: I like Ryuji more than Hayato ( I'm not into ladies man types) , I wish there were more Ryuji scenes cuz I'm biased. MC can be infantilized at times towards the beginning, in the way characters talk about him, & the way he's drawn. MC does not have equal power dynamic in sex (he's usually passive & demure). Certain logic is fucky.
Please be My Master
2021. In a world of regular persons & beast people, a young man requests our mc to "be his master" in order to give him a place to stay. Turns out this new roommate is a beast person! Sexual encounters ensue. Waiting for updates
Breath The Same Air
Two ex step siblings have to live together despite feelings of dislike. What will become of their relationship?? So ex brother hates mc for no reason. He's just a big dick bag so far & is unlikeable. Hope he gets more development to see what his deal is. Has dumb yaoi logic. (Like buddy if you're gonna masturbate, lock the dang door) Update: Ahh the potential "love interest" is such a detestable person. He's a bag of shit for no reason. He'd have to put in the hard WORK to make himself redeemable to make up for all the horseshit. Update: Wow. There's quite a few yaoi semes that just need therapy. This potential "love interest" I guess, definitely needs counseling or therapy for anger issues. He needs help. He is a danger to those around him. For the yaoi genre, I would love to see, at least once, where a story acknowledges this & shows them get mental health help as signs they are actually talking steps to improve themselves. None of this, "I will decide to act normal now", or "love healed me" shit, cuz that's not reliable. Edit: I'm dropping. I made it to ch. 17. It was fun to imagine what could be done with the story, but I liked doing that more than the actual plot. My breaking point was finding out neither of the boys are gay ( or attracted to men on any spectrum). They both are heterosexual.. It feels dumb to me to read a yaoi, a gay genre, in which both the main characters are straight. Because then I wonder, why do they romantically like each other versus someone else? Maybe the author is trying to go for the trope where they're both straight but they only exclusively like each other because their love/attraction is special? Maybe that's the author trying to be romantic? Idk, but I draw the line when authors decide to "no homo" the boys. I'd rather the authors just unapologetically make characters gay, like in Bara
A Shared House
7/20/22: Roommate is a pig. Like seriously, don't subject your roommates to having to walk in on you having sex. It's sleazy, trashy behavior. & MC, don't encourage him by saying , "It's fine". Have some self respect too. Gets turned on by roomie, but I don't see what's to like. This one has dumb yaoi logic.
Who's Your Daddy?
7/15/22: So a high ranking police detective has a hazy one night stand and becomes pregnant. Only men from the royal family can impregnate someone regardless of gender. There's three men it could be. But really we all know who it is.. This one is frustrating... It follows tropes such as miscommunication, and uses them as a crutch for the story to progress. This is trash. Now that can be both good and bad. I don't mean that in a hateful way, but just that it is what it is. C'mon MC, you're too slow on the uptake! I read everything. This was interesting but stupid....
Love Jinx
Already read. It sucks. The characters are stupid & overdramatic. It's not romantic. They also operate on tropes too, one of the most annoying being miscommunication. Also the MC & the seme both have s*** personalities. Uke is constantly a rude and unpleasant tsundere. Seme is psycho & threatens uke. Also he isn't very empathetic towards the uke (he actually laughed at him when he talked about his feelings). He doesn't show much range of emotion besides being cocky, aggressive, or horny..... I made it to chapter 30 and decided I didn't want to waste any more of my time. 8/19/22 I'm sorry for shitting on this. These are my thoughts.
