how do i even begin? following the generations of female rulers and the men entangled within the inner chambers was almost like being immersed in a fairy tale. the flow of every life lived within the palace, whether it was abrupt, long, sad or filled with happiness, it was like a peek into real people who lived. i love stories that span and interconnect by generations, how the legacy of these women and men we are intimately introduced to reappear and shine or distort throughout history. we learn about all the hurdles, the hardships and how they persevered or burned. how some even obtained happiness or died striving. the politics and the perception of gender is scrutinized, and you become emotionally invested in these snippets of life where they learn how to rule and love. this manga is simply a masterpiece.

Unfortunately skipped alot till the end. Pros -Nice Art (It was hanging on the thin line of inconsistency, but I really like the artist's facial structure and hairline) - I have a thing for colonial india. I bizzarely enough like the aesthetic of fusioned nations. Cons - Cliche and cringy most of the time. Follows a basic fomula of shallow characters + no character developement + no actual plotline - I usually dislike the feminine uke so, points off for that (Not the most feminized uke I've read, but my man literally dressed like a woman in a masquarade ball)
