The first and fourth stories were fairly cute. The middle two were not very good.

Ahiru no Oujisama (Kazao)

Complete | Kazao | 2017 released

Truly a compilation of stories concerning characters who are generous and kind and nonjudgmental, traits society rarely spotlights but are worth more than their weight in gold.

I liked the first chapter a lot more than the second one (though they’re both about the same couple). I felt like the second chapter included typical yaoi tropes concerning jealousy that I didn’t like [update: though there was that twist at the end that, when I first read this, I didn't see it coming. Still, I agree with my first assessment: I don't think the fact that his boyfriend was just trying to make the problem disappear by forcing the mc to not deal with it was dumb, and I didn't like the dynamics between them in this story because of that problem.]. Update: This manga got updated for the story between the unwelcome third party of the first two chapters and a new guy (oooh!). I'm excited to read it. Update of update: Boo for the second couple, because that guy is sooo insecure about himself. I'll keep reading, and see if it's okay, but I'm not feeling it currently. Update of update of update (ha ha ha): Why does it matter that you're a serious person? Boiiii, staahhp. Update #4: I really liked the themes of the last story (with the cat-eared boy and the 'human' boy). I wasn't interested in their personalities at first, considering the cat-eared boy (whose eyes you mostly see the story through) kept getting bullied but wouldn't stand up for himself (which is typical for a lot of people who are bullied, who don't think they are worth standing up for because no one has validated their own self-worth). But the themes were fantastic, and I was especially impressed with how the author handled the last part of the main story, where they learned from each other, that they felt like they (themselves) were worth fighting for because of their interactions with the other person (but didn't end up feeling like their only self worth rested on the existence of the other person (or how the other person thought of them), which is an entirely different and unhealthy thing), and decided to fight for themselves and a better life and their own happiness, even after not knowing if they were ever going to see each other again. In that case, it did end up happily; but we do get to see that they end up together anyway in the physical world, which is a nice addition to the story (because it makes them happy), but I was very pleased and satisfied with what happened in the first two chapters of their story.

29-year old salary man Ibuki has terrible luck/judgment when choosing and dating men. He has a thing for another office worker (who he mostly sees as eye-candy) and misses the advances/crush of his younger office coworker, Touma, who misunderstands Ibuki's glances in his direction as affection for him. Later, at an office welcoming party, Touma uses the chance when Ibuki's outside of the bar for a smoke to make a move on him...and they tumble into bed once they leave the work party (at the uke's urging). Ibuki changes his mind at the end of the first chapter from wanting the night to be a one-time thing and gives himself the chance to have a normal romance with someone who truly seems like a catch. 3rd chapter had a different story ~Chapter 3
