hinako said in the author's not that originally it was a one-shot and I think it should have stayed that way. although the continuation was cute and enjoyable (sort-of) the beginning is most definitely rape. the issue is that it tries (even though it ultimately admits it to be rape) to soften it; the seme repeatedly disagreed with the uke calling it rape so the one-off acknowledgement feels disingenuous. If it stayed as a one shot it could be viewed as a fetish piece or something but it's the indecisiveness; is it a rapey story, or is it fluff? the author was inexperienced at this time and unsure so was unable to convince the readers as a result. I wonder if the editor did the best they could have for this story... but alas, clearly there was enough demand at the time (2012 or so) for there to be a second volume, so pitting all the blame on the mangaka (or editor as I do here) feels inaccurate. I really enjoy hinako-sensei's later works (blue lust specifically) so perhaps we can treat it as a product of the time — as dismissive as that sounds.

so much pathos

I'm realising I like the kind of romances where the lips are rough and you're close enough to see eachothers pores (like peep show's mark Corrigan's boiled ham face, idiots in love, morons, horrible people (trying tho)) I've only read 2 chapters though. I'll continue when I'm less tired (so sleepy)
