Aesthetics of Unpleasantness
I'd give this a 5 for its uniqueness, but because of my own rule of « -1 if there's rape », it gets a 4/5. Honestly, it's a complicated situation because the uke even says he consents afterward and was manipulating the seme. So, in the end, if I could, I'd give this a 4.5/5. What a fucked up ride.
The Seduction of the Deep Sleeper
I'M ONLY GIVING IT 4/5 STAR BECAUSE I HAVE A -1 POLICY IF THERE'S RAPE! AND IT WAS SOMEHOW KINDA... logical in this one? not justified but it never happened again and the guys actually have a super healthy relationship, which is refreshing in yaoi :).
CUFFED!
The plot, saddly, was predictable. When the MC spent the night with the second guy in the love triangle, I could tell what the reaction of the main love interest was going to be. Which means, this story is automatically given a 2/5 (since the art is good). Although it was original for it to have « outlawed gay people », the main love interest rapes the MC MANY TIMES and then when they kind of «officially» get together, he apologizes about bullying him, like it's just been a little annoying. AS IF HE HASN'T BEEN FORCING HIM AND NOT LISTENING WHEN HE SAYS STOP AND NO!? Which makes me deduct one more star for rape. I feel like the main love interest has nothing to make me like him; yes he's cunning, but it's in a manipulative way and he shows no vulnerability, except surface level ; he never listens to the MC's limits ; they were «friends» in the past, yet the manga never shows them being actual GOOD FRIENDS and kind to one another in the past, AND the MC even keeps saying how he fucking hated him and he made his school life horrible and annoying. WE HAVE NO REASON TO ROOT FOR HIM OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT THE OTHER GUY (the second choice in this dumb love triangle) IS SLOWLY TURNING INTO AN INCEL AND GETTING COCKHOLDED. :C
Dogeza, Shite Kudasai.
it's fucked up... but kinda fun.
Tonari no Seki no Hen na Senpai
OK, so here's the thing... the whole dumb and outdated « oups I raped you because of love/intense hornyness; oopsie ;P» is disgusting. In yaoi, yuri and shoujo. ESPECIALLY IN FUCKING SHOUJO because there is an undeniable PHYSICAL power imbalance. Maybe in a yaoi you can say «oh, but, the guy could've pushed him away, but he didn't omg >w< he likes it».... it's a dumb thesis but we can't deny that it's a possible interpretation. BUT IN SHOUJO THERE'S IS NO WAY IN HELL THE GIRL COULD'VE ACTUALLY FOUGHT BACK UNLESS SHE'S PRESENTED AS A (physically) STRONG FEMALE OR SHE FOUGHT LIKE SHE WAS ABOUT TO DIE. To make a long fucking story short, the fucking RAPE trope is disgusting and absolutely INEXCUSABLE especially in shoujo >:( DOESN'T MATTER THAT THE GUY IS HOT, HE FUCKING RAPED HER!!??? I won't lie though, I'm sad the manga got dropped when he finally stopped being a fucking unstable uncontrollable creep. :/
Haru ga kita
This is a good one, and the rape (although fucked up) was used for the plot in an interesting eau instead of just a justification or plot device for trauma (since Sakura was mature enough to let go of this fear of being used and unlovable in only one chapter).
Dotei Yankee Magicus
Great art style, but the plot is just a way to get the character almost raped every chapter sooo.... 1/5.
Natsume-kun Wa Nan Demo Shitteru
Generic characters and a straight main character who "discovers" he's gay once the seme rapes/sexually assaults him. The stalker plot point is not explored in depth and is just a means to an end (that end being the mc realizing he (for some reason) likes the love interest) instead of being a way to flesh out the characters and bring a deeper understanding of their individual mentalities. Bref, this is plain.
