He was dependent on Hae In as a guide to find friend and be successful in live. It kinda remind me of my own situation 10 years ago when I also move to the US to study abroad. They become friends and love talking bout psychology. MC as was being bully cause Hae In other friend got jealous. So MC say he don’t trust Hae In anymore. Hae In did keep his promise and help MC and also not friend with bully anymore. They slowly become friend again and also MC able to make many new friend during that too. On the last day, it turn out Hae In gonna study in US and stay their he leaving the next day. They part way, but MC want to tell Hae In his feeling so he chase the car but the car already gone. After that, he live life with a mentality of “What Hae In would do”. He become more outgoing because of that. Coming back after years of moving to a different city and studying at college, he visited the library that Hae In him use to study. He read the book that they love and at that moment, he finally can let go of his feeling for Hae In. Also MC was never really himself after he know Hae In. It like he becoming Hae In at some sort. He sound like he actually don’t like the book that much. He just read it for an assignment but since Hae In like it, he like it too. He become of the fake Hae In and later on he finally letting Hae In go, which also letting go of his persona and becoming his real self. But he also being hard on himself. He think that he act like Hae In to better himself but simply Hae In change his view in life instead. The simple goodbye really hurt. Also Hae In is more vulnerable then people think. I felt like the reason he going to the US is to run alway from his feeling. He seem like type to be close with everyone but also not close at the same time. It like he ready to leave and cut everyone off. So his goodbye at the end was his only time where he seem hesitate to cut up. I don’t know how to explain it but it seem like he letting MC go down easy cause leaving without goodbye would be hurtful. He really consider MC as a friend and he also debating on how to tell MC so it probably why it took him until the last minute. I’m my delulu mind, they become friend as adult!!
