Driver's High
The lack of communication trope TT hate that trope but I thought this story was well done. We start with these boyfriends of 5 years who have gotten complacent in their relationship. The spoiled Leo and the silent caretaker JJ. Leo is quite selfish and disregards JJ, and he’s finally had enough and breaks up. This is how the story starts so it’s an exes to lovers scenario which was delicious! Both characters have their flaws and do the wrong thing as times, but I still like both of them a lot and was rooting for them the whole way through. Leo is selfish and spoiled and really doesn’t take JJs feelings into consideration. He remains selfish and honestly dumb for a good portion of the story as he’s quite stubbornly set in his ways. But he’s still endearing and learns his lesson and tries to change by the end. JJ puts up with Leo’s nonsense but never expresses how he feels and lets Leo walk all over him while bottling everything up. He’s a bit insecure in the relationship since Leo is so flighty, but never communicates anything. I totally understand how fed up he was, but the warehouse scene really did not need to happen. And he never explained if communicated anything, just walked away cold. It was frustrating to watch them at times, but that’s half the fun of these types of stories. When they’re good, they’re really good tho and I’m glad we got some extras to show that side of their relationship. I like that they both weren’t perfect, and we see them actively working to try and better themselves and work on their relationship (they even went to couples therapy!) it was refreshing and you could feel throughout the story that they truly cared deeply for each other. The co flick didn’t drag out too long either and I think the pacing was pretty good. Overall I really enjoy this exes to lovers trope and I really liked these characters. Lovely art too! Overall really enjoyed this read. Omg the extras were soooooo cute! Really really loved this couple and this story, I grew so fond of them. Hope they have their happily every after!
