Ambrosia's manga / #loved a lot(139)

Bokura ga Koi wo Ushinau Riyuu

Complete | itz | 2017 released

list - masterlist oof painful unrequited love of both sides with other people. Seme in love with his brother and uke in love with his childhood friend. At first they both are kind of using each other for comfort, though it's just platonic and more like a friendship support and comfort system than anything. The feelings developed nice and naturally, and them falling for each other and moving on from their previous love was believable and satisfying. I'd like to see more couple moments between them bc they seem to be in a great mutually loving relationship, and the glimpse of their steady relationship 5 years later was nice.

It's complicated and Itsuki is a gem of a character, but I think it was done well. It didn't feel too rushed for me. Incestual love is so taboo and I think it was handled well. I think at that point, Airi was already over his love for his brother but it was just that lingering pain of his first love. And his main fault was lying to Itsuki about it, like Itsuki said he just wanted him to be honest. But that is incredibly difficult bc it is such a taboo thing that he felt shame about for so long, it wasn't even that he still had those feelings but moreso that he never wanted to face those feelings and admit it out loud bc he was so ashamed. But Itsuki was incredibly patient and understanding. I don't think Airi used him necessarily. He was attracted to him from the beginning but didn't agree to be in a relationship until he developed real feelings for him. He truly did like him and want to be with him, and hoped to heal and move on. It's just that he couldn't confess his secret bc it's something he could hardly face himself, and he didn't have complete closure about his feelings. Once his feelings were revealed, Itsuki gave him the time and space he needed to have that closure and he did. It's not that he needed to get over his feelings in that time span, he just needed to come to terms with what he had felt before and lay it to rest to finally move on. It was interesting and different, and I think it was handled well.
