oh it's the sequel to 20th century boys. since it was a while since I read the main story, I forgot who's the real friend and who the fake one. also, it seems the author incorporated some sci-fi thing that allowed mc and the scammer guy's ghost to travel into the past and meet their younger selves...?

ch 7. there are some plot holes. like, mc's body is fit even tho he's supposedly useless and cowardly. mc is also very strong, tho i assume it will take time to adjust to the new body but that was never addressed. there's no mention of his feelings about his situation...like doesnt he feel regret? he was at the pinnacle in the murim world, after all. mc also doesnt have much of a personality. he pretty much just "asserts his authority by beating the shit out of people with composure" which is the only facet of the heavenly demon... the writing is a bit lazy. the sequence of events doesn't flow well, and other characters can just fade into the background. it's more of a tell than show story, but whatever. ch 18. that chris is pretty annoying. he has a high pride for someone of poor origins who strong due to talent (+hardwork). but at least he acknowledges mc's words ch 19. the art changed. why does kevin look like a kid...? he looked malnourished in the previous chapters. ch 31. got more interesting. blonde lady got smarter. still hope she's not a love interest. ch 105. ok, i came back to this manhwa and had to change my entire negative review bc this is good. i was just inserting how i wanted the protagonist to be, and was too quick to judge him within 20ish chapters. mc is still kinda edgy, but his charisma as a leader shines thru. several people come to respect him, and even go so far to swear loyalty to him, but he deserves it ngl. even tho, it's kinda weird how the manhwa never fails to praise him at every given opportunity thru other chara's lens. the political intrigue feels grounded,the worldbuilding is fairly fleshed out, albeit generic, and the developments are slow burn, but mc is gradually becoming stronger and growing his power and influence. the other charas, even if they're antagonists, arent demonized; best example would be edwin and his army of the hektor kingdom, i love that the author doesn't make it black and white but give justifiable reasons for their actions and i respect that.

ch 46. the amount of backstabbing and betrayals is stunning... ch 74. OH NO YOU DID NOT JUST BETRAY THE ONE GUY WHO WILL EVER SIMP FOR YOU YOU USELESS SHIT. ch 75. they don't know it was rachel herself who pushed baam off the edge, and now they wish to honor his goal by helping rachel reach the top of the tower... if this is not irony, then what is. close to the end of first arc. ch 98. damn betrayals one after another...still, love how other side characters get screentime as well. honestly, if the art was better, and the flow of the sequence of events was smoother, this would be more popular than it is. ch 105. the bitch is back. she's seriously trying to manipulate koon the same way she did to baam...! using vulnerability and grief over baam's "sacrifice" to instill a sense of pity......goddamn what a horrible person. at least koon isn't fooled. he'll indeed protect rachel, but he's anticipating her death; he wants to kill her. his and baam's friendship is just so...<3 ch 113. urek is kinda... ch 145. fucking sad. baam's past allies all want to kill viole for revenge but they don't realize viole IS baam and he's trying so hard to protect them. still, they are slowly approaching the truth, but its frustrating af. ch 160. rak and androssi finally realized...! TT TT i gotta say, loving the emotional development. ch 186. really do like how the author showed how people react differently to trauma; others use it to fuel their ambition while retaining their aversion to hurt others whereas others may fall into evil's side and hurt others. ahem, *the guy who fell in love with his family's murderer* v2 ch 146-9. sigh, after all this time, he still hasn't given up on that backstabbing bitch. he hoped she had a reason to betray him so it would be easier to forgive her... STOP IT BAAM ENOUGH OF THAT USELESS OBSESSION. SHE JUST PUSHED YOU OFF AGAIN. v2 ch 189. wow, hoaquin that piece of shit. he is a trash scumbag personified. Nearly a billion lives were killed in the war he incited and perpetuated all for the sake of acquiring power. on the other hand, daniel and his former allies' story is really too pitiful. daniel's beloved sacrificed herself, but against his will, he didn't die with her. v2 ch308. no fcking way. why did they have to die?? rachel, yura, casano, and hoaquin GO TO HELL. i cant even describe how detestable they are. I thought i knew, but goddamn they need to die and idc if yura has a sad backstory cuz it's indisputable that she needs to die as well. on another note, I can't believe the hell train arc isn't finished yet. v2 ch 320. well, more complicated stuff. they've arrived on the floor of death and baam's parents are revealed. but then it's also apparent that rachel is connected to his mother. rachel's goal to defy her destiny is understandable; like many heroes in a story, she has nothing except ambition... if she wasn't so rotten, i would've sympathized with her. also, what is karaka and wangnan's connection to jahad and the 10 families? v2 ch 341. urek mazino is such a cool guy. but anyways... baam you fool. gustang could've granted any favor you could wish for...yet you wanted rachel to be healed?? are you fucking inane?? i am starting to get why readers are calling him selfish. i mean, rachel's actions are not justifiable by any way, but i get her resentment. still why isn't she dead yet?? she even has a stingray protecting her now! anyway, they headed to the hidden floor now. ch 396. that useless self-righteous backstabbing shit render khun into a coma. it seems baam finally got his head out of the clouds now that he cut off his lingering affection for her. anyway, there's another mini-arc of the hell train arc. they're facing more enemies at the last station cuz jaha ordered the hell train's riders to be killed. ch 417. they escaped, but baam's master was captured. fug and baam will probably have to team up. new arc soon. ugh, and useless rachel going to get three wishes from gustang. wtf. ch 440. new arc about the canine people and the coup. brothers' conflict. yama kinda hot. i admit, karaka is growing on me... he says he trusts no one but he starting to seem to care about others, including baam. he's less annoying now. khun acquired a new flame power that regenerates himself and others. rak is the same. the art really improved; the details are amazing. ch 453. oh no...they don't know the cat-man can control canine people...and they brought a whole legion to save yama. but I really do love how they love yama, despite him thinking otherwise. 468. baam finally aint trying to be the deliverer of justice or trying to save everyone. canine people arc done, now they're heading to the nest on the 52F to save baam's master, ensuing a battle that would mark the beginning of the war against jahad's forces. 501. the author is amazing at making it hard to completely hate some of the antagonists. like kalahan... but i do hate the cat guy. I'm so happy that guys that were previously fighting against each other are now allies (ie. baam and karaka; the three canine brothers; the temporary truce of hoaquin and baam fell apart bc the former is evil) but i do hate the combination of baam and kalahan, since he's loyal to jahad. Jesus christ, hoaquin is so hateable; there's nothing that relates him to us, unlike that of Rachel. something wrong with ch 529. but anyway, didn't expect cat-guy had a backstory like this. traumerei, the anima family head, has disgustingly pretty eyes; it also seems he was betrayed by someone in the past so he's a real asshole now. ch 536. to think yama's father and catguy's story was like this. catguy was obsessed with yama's father; they were friend-ish. catguy was controlled by traumerei to kill yama's father against his will. he lied to traumerei that he killed yama, doom, and paul and but reality, instilled a fear/order in them so they will never appear before him again...probably to keep them hidden from traumerei. the story we know of their background is completely flipped. now he aims to kill traumerei, but i don't understand why he tried to kill yama and his bros. ch. 547. 52F arc done. baam separated from his allies again. and he's going to be the prize (spouse) of whoever wins this competition which his master proposed in order to stall for time. hope endorsi appears. and this blonde bitch here thinks she's all that.

ch 28. good art. great team name. "carpe diem"- is such a fitting name of resolve. a pretty unique combo of common tropes in action/fantasy manhwas. system + tower climbing + harvesting products to sell + vr game-like (all devastation and deaths weren't real; fake reality) + greater beings beyond human imagination in control + aloof and lonely fleshed out mc who alone understands the essence of the world.

ch 15. i like how the people who died were given some backstory. it's like the author is humanizing the casualties. ch 60. damnit. crying rn. old man better not die. ch 84. hoping the superhuman ladies won't die. mc's 'scent' is pretty cool. it's like mother nature favors him and gifts him power. the art is kinda weird but i like how there's no fanservice; like pearl is pretty but she doesn't have a curvy or lithe body but instead, bulging muscles...it's nice. ch 90. oh my god...i have no idea the relationship between pink-haired big guy and kalen...but I'm kinda tearing up. also, the evan guy is so annoying. a lot of the characters' objectives and stories are unknown thus far, such as nan gi and his companion, evan, and even the inhumans. bc why do they want to obliterate humanity? s1 completed. ch 121. lmao that hoaran guy is totally a simp for nan gi. alya is so badass, wielding that chain anchor. on a side note, I can't say I like the romance aspect of mc and his classmate. it's understandable she's useless since she's just an average high school student, but she doesn't seem all that necessary in the story so far...?

It's annoying how the minor antagonists are more concerned with their wounded ego and pride when the desire to survive in this apocalyptic situation should prevail over the petty quarrels with the people you probably had never ever talked to up until that moment. hell, that person is way stronger than you yet you want him to die? stupid.

ch 8. with two ladies that are trying to persuade mc to join their organization, and they're beautiful as well, I'm wondering if they're seducing him as a means to their goal. lol. anyways there are only 4-5 people introduced so far that could side-character material. and four are ladies, and beauties at that too(edit: 2 of them never even show up again. what was the point of their existence? fanservice ig). but yeah, no men so far. except for the mc's master. and he only took mc as a disciple bc he had a perfect body for martial arts, and he was bored and mc is the only one he could touch. how convenient for mc. personality-wise, mc is meh. ch 15. one woman down for the mc... edit: and she just entered his home w/out permission. aight. ch 17. ok maybe I'm just being too critical of mc here, but I think his goal (to acquire enough power to ensure that no one suffers anymore due to the monsters and such) is too idealistic...and shoujo-like. it's bland and his backstory is so flimsy that anyone can come up on the spot. I hope he grows more depth so it'll change in a way that'll be unique and reflects his personal desires too. anyways, potential side character: s-rank and it's a dude this time. but of course, he's antagonistic towards mc bc he doesn't like the skimpy clothes woman. edit: there's another guy that's antagonistic towards mc bc he likes the skimpy clothes woman. lol. ch 32. it's not bad. there is only so much you can with the monster-system-crap premise that has been overused. mc is initially timid and naive, but his master is teaching him and he's developing in this regard. nevertheless, his luck in getting stronger without reason is obnoxious. also, why is there a reincarnation tag?? there none whatsoever. ch 39. new terms that signify a greater scheme is at play here. also, its a pity; that long black-haired guy was kinda hot. ch 51. mc is boring as a character. am I expecting too much? proabaly. his only personality is being timid and working hard to protect his dear ones, but he's even bland at that. even tho he's the mc, there's no depth. no smarts, no charisma or admirable qualities. he's stupidly impulsive sometimes, and his master helps him get thru it. he doesn't deserve the power he has. and it's annoying how all the friends he has now, are females. given the plenty of times he interacted with them, there is obviously romance but like it's heading into a harem. it's frustrating there is no male that he is friendly with (besides his master), not even that cliche friend that only serves as comic relief and foil. all the males are either antagonists, foil, or people that aren't important to mc(except his lil bro). and at this point, the background of his master and the mystery of why he was transported near mc is still not brought up yet.

ch 5. well at least mc is not so pathetic he'll use his crush to avoid being beaten by the bullies. ch 11. the teacher-who's-actually-a-really-strong-guy is well kinda perverted. all the comedy of this work seems to stem from his foolish acts and perversion. ch 17. right now the bullied kid's crush is kinda useless. she's not that likable either, like, I applaud her for not ignoring him but even tho she says she wants to help, the way she had no inkling in her pretty little head that his "friends" are actually his bullies ch 26. murim set in the modern world... pretty cool. and this is a Korean work but in a manga form. I wonder if korean work was initially something that looked like manga but later branched into the colored panel manhwas. ch 32. that kid really is an idiot. he's acting on emotions and making dumabass decisions, forcing his teach to come to his rescue every single time. at this point, it's not bravery but recklessness. ch 41. wow. the chivalry. you're gonna let your long-time bullies continue smashing your head in with a bat, but then when he tries to make a move on ur beloved sahee, ur suddenly so aggressive. goddamnit. ch 44. pretty boy, i like u. also, shiho and the ex-teach are cute together ch 63. WTFFF how can she dies like this? she was literally the best female chara in this series! ch 70. OI what r u saying right now? did he really intend to kill his disciple? bc he just desperately wants revenge?
