D.Gray-man
On The Way To Meet Mom
incredible heart-tugging but simple story. i actually shed a tear when i finished. i am in awe of the sprawling background/landscape-- just insanely beautiful, some of the best in manhwa art really. i really like how the story doesnt really explain the lore and only give the basic background of this world. The combination of historic and diverse cultures and futuristic technology within this world is unique and shows how much effort and love the author put into this project. we are not told what the aliens are, what happened to the humans, or info dumped at all, but just shown the various mysterious parts of the world as we follow mori's journey, the author lets us fill in the info with our own imagination. this already sets it arpart from other manhwas, in which they subconsciously acknowledge the readers by always verbally info dumping in pretty unnatural ways. the storytelling and pacing is perfect. the author knows how to use space between panels, use silence, shading, and subtlety of facial expression to convey emotions, and use appropriate amount of background assets. and the texturing? fucking amazing. i am lookin forward to the author's next work.
