Hear me out, I too hate the type of novels in which you have such a weak willed MC but the fantastic thing about this story is that the more you read, the more you feel. We eventually find out that the reason they both go back in time at all was because the one to make a wish was the ML, at first he wanted for her to go back by his side in the first life, but the bird said that MC didn't want anything to do with him no more so it wouldn't be granted, the he asked for time with her, and so, they both go back. We can see some flashbacks in which the ML went little bonkers after her death (he never had the intention of killing her and Lethizia only want her dead on her own) and he started killing off left and right and went to war with Dimitri (who I dearly hope is our true ML or at least second lead) and was mentally unstable with her dead, and thought he recovered by going back in time there are hints in which he goes slightly off like the scene when MC was taking some meds and he ran to her and slapped off her hand because he thought she might be drinking poison, and he is over all really worried she is gonna suicide even when she hasn't given any signs for it. There is nothing he can do to make me forgive him for all of that, but I can understand the circumstances. He was really happy about the child on his first life but he never expressed himself to her so never comforted her for it's loss nor told her plainly what he felt and even when the MC tried to explain her actions he wouldn't let her for fear of rejection. Miscommunication ruined them, but he damned them. I hate the main characters (even the MC because ik she will forgive him eventually even when right now he is sweating for scraps of her consideration) but the story makes me feel strongly, so I will read on and I will advice people to do the same because even so the story is really good and the political climate makes it understandable.
