My Darling Liar Boy

Complete | Akai shirafu | 2022 released

Despite it being very weirdly random (in porn type ways), it's such a lovely little story with really great characters. There are moments I wish it was less random and made more sense or let's say read more realistically and smoothly, but even so it's still a great read. Funny, cute, emotional, wholesome and smutty all in one. Art is good too tho it has an 'older' feel to it, but I don't think it should be a deal breaker given it's still good. :) Definitely recommended. Has it's issues but not bad enough to bother me as much. They are more like a tad bit cringey or eyeroll choices in terms of writing. Something to giggle or sigh at while laughing, if that makes sense. XD

Unmei-teki Lovemeter

Complete | miyama kaoruko | 2019 released

This is SUCH a good read! And a must read I would say. As well as a poster child for how to use tropes, dear fellow authors. Take notes! ヽ(`Д´)ノ The art is good, the story itself is adorable, sweet, funny and emotional in some moments and the fact the author uses story tropes in such perfect manners makes me absolutely happy. It has lots of misunderstanding moments but the author knows EXACTLY how annoying it is if they drag and hence uses them as they SHOULD be used: To create a situation and immediately clear things up when said situation arose instead of making it a whole fucking arc of drama in the comic. Simply perfect, that choice. <3 I very much recommend this. It's short and sweet and even has re-read value in my eyes. Not too much of a teenager content thing but also not too much aimed at adults. It's just the sweet spot inbetween. So I can recommend this for anyone. 10/10 - Definitely recommended!

Gift (ICHINOSE Yuma)

Ongoing | ICHINOSE Yuma | 2015 released

This is my review for all current chapters (vol 3 ch 3). Impressive is the best fitting word here. The author did an incredibly and nearly perfect job portraying the aftermath of such abuse and worldshattering events that turn you into a true mess; it's impressive to say the least. The topic itself is heavy and I do not think people who cannot sympathize/empathize with others or understand heavy psychological damage will not be able to appreciate this story for what it is. It's certainly a mature comic for adult audiences. And that is not because of the yaoi elements to it, mind you. I have hardly noticed anything I would say is a fault in this story. Some moments could have been more detailed but it worked well the way it is. The only thing I simply did not like at all, althought realistic, is that the cult in question didn't get what they deserve (yet, I'm still hopeful). All of them, maybe even Dr Dai deserve punishment or more likely getting off'd for what they did, do and will do. But reality is also not punishing those people, so I understand the choice for making their part of the story what it is. It's an impressive piece of writing so far, for sure. And a must read for those who can handle and understand heavy topics and appreciate them. I doubt this'll change after more chapters are released. Tho I will write another review then I think. :) I really hope the story goes on for quite a while still. I want to see them both slowly settle in normality and have a good life. That would really be great, especially since Kei has so much to adapt to still.

Ashita kimi no mono ni shite

Complete | MIYAMA Kaoruko | 2021 released

I'll make this short: This is the cutest fucking shit I have seen in ages and this would make an amazing comedy romance anime. XD The relationship is sweet, adorable, fluffy but also steamy later on. They are both the greenest green flags to have ever greened and while their comedic behavior is indeed exeggarated it's also fairly realistic if we think about it. I just really love it. A good, simple/quick story. No needless drama. Well written and well thought through. Definitely recommended!

It's Time to Look for a New Family

Ongoing | | 2022 released

The plot of this is grand and promising, but the execution of the comic is lackluster at best. (I asume this is based on a novel, so keep that in mind.) There are very obviously things left out that are important to explain (like some names or creatures that randomly pop up and we are supposed to just say 'ah, ok' to that, all while barely needed flashbacks of character pasts are made a huge, detailed deal). Many times it feels like the comic gets side tracked and pays attention to the wrong things. Or just skips scenes that seem to be important to have in here. I assume the original work has them included, like the strange childrens gift from Winter, the reaction of the MC after reuniting was MUCH too special for the gift to be just left out/not revealed. Don't get me wrong, the base plot is incredibly interesting and has incredible potential, doing away with many cliches and mistakes, but it bothers me extremely that every other chapter the immersion is broken because another random skip, leaving something out or just a surprise random info snippet gets slapped into my face and nobody really cares to integrate it/introduce it into the story as if it was always a part of it. The way it's done here feels more like the author had a random moment and slapped something in there. Which I do NOT think the original script reads like. There are TOO many instances, even in just the 27 chapters I have read so far, that give the feeling of half the info you SHOULD have when reading the original script, are simply left out because of likely the classic reason: The comic adaptors didn't deem it important enough. Which is THE biggest issue with comic adaptations no doubt. It's not up to you as the adaptation team to deem what's necessary, especially if you definitely have no passion to convey the original plot as detailed as it likely is. If the writer included it, the comic should as well. Don't like the extra work for something you think is unimportant? DON'T MAKE A COMIC ABOUT THE STORY THEN. That's equally as unpleasant as anime/manga translators/localizers turning their job into fanfiction writing by making up what characters are saying. It's disappointing seeing this type of thing happen so often when it comes to novel-to-comic adaptations and making a potentially amazing story so annoying, boring or shitty to read. I really wish people would stop doing this. It's not givng the original story a good rep if you half-ass the comic adaptation.

Ipsae's Leaf in Haneum's Breeze

Complete | Jjinbam | 2022 released

I would say this comic might be among my perfect reads, considering it's so well balanced. The art is great, the characters detailed and stay mostly in tune with what you know about them and the writing is very well done. Both the characters are well written and something we do not see often as depicted here (in detail and with depth), maybe not everybody's cup of tea but for what they are, they are well written and depicted. This story knows how to utilize emotions and make the most of it. Drama and cuteness as well as comedy is not overdone at any point and not used needlessly, making for a well balanced read. The trouble starts early and the later half is the satisfactory part of them being a couple. Then the story just blends out with a final show of their future and that in and of itself is not just well done but also something we rarely see: Have drama, let them get together and be themselves for a few chapters and then just make sure the reader knows that this is all there is. The rest is likely just as we imagine for ourselves. And sometimes being left with that thought instead of having another season that rinses and repeats is EXACTLY what we need. And we rarely get that nowadays. I would highly recommend this and I do believe this author will be thrown onto my fav author lists. Hopefully we'll get more such gems. :) Definitely coming back for a re-read.

Flowers Are Bait

Ongoing | Dry Fish Girl,Godot | 2025 released

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be. I was worried at first but the author did a great job not immediately forgetting the dark interaction, tiptoeing between dark realism and comedy VERY perfectly. The story is overall very interesting and the art beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. (I really hope his family isn't full of trashbags tho, I'd really like it if the brother actually cares for the ML and supports the change in character and the newly claimed life.) Gonna stalk my inbox for this one~
