Hitori to Hitori no 3650nichi

Complete | hitomi | 2019 released

The art is GORGEOUS. And it took her years to finish, so it only gets better as it goes. By the end of the main story, it blew me away. This is such a sad and beautiful story. I absolutely loved it. It's so rare for people to explore the psychological aspects of sexual assault and the way that people can internalize these things. The connection he made to his past mistake was a way for him to cope with what happened to him, but it only hurt him further. This is actually much more common in sexual abuse survivors than people probably realize. The love between them is so tender and so genuine. I love them so much and could read all about them forever. I can't wait for this mangaka to release more stuff. It really clicks with my crying fetish, too. I kinda feel like the mangaka has a crying fetish herself, because there's crying in almost every chapter, lol.

A Wicked Beast

Ongoing | Qingqin studios,Hanibal | 2019 released

I don't really know what to say. It's not a perfect comic, but I do like stories about writers, and the mystery/supernatural element is great. I appreciate that it actually has a plot and action and such. I'm hoping I can buy an official translation eventually, though, because I feel like we miss out with the poor translations. Up to chapter 51, it seems like we've got someone better than the person who was translating the 20s and 30s. I appreciate that they're doing that, but we're still missing out on the full meaning of the story. Better than nothing, but still. Wolf in sheep's clothing, everyone trying to bang this guy... But I like it so far. I'm looking forward to more chapters.

The Perfect Relationship

Complete | Akkang, Sam | 2017 released

Pretty sad, fucked up story. Definitely depressing with no real relief. I feel so bad for that high school student, though I'm glad he was given comfort and held and such, allowed to cry. I hope that after this, he and the other guy, the main dude's boyfriend, both have happier lives. Maybe he'll help the high schooler get out of his situation. Maybe when he's older, they'll date, and they can both feel like they accomplished things they thought they wouldn't. Either way, definitely a downer, but most of the characters weren't likable enough for it to really sting. His son, though. Ugh, it was so cruel. Right into the end, just how kind and trusting he was. Not something I'd reread, but not awful. Just a bummer.

Keep Moaning, I'm Watching You

Ongoing | Esu Shiromiya | 2000 released

Hesitantly giving it a four for now. Just the one chapter, so I don't know how to gauge it. I do love innocent love between little kids, like before it's even sexual, just the cute little crushes before they grow up and hormones set in. I wish there were more stories like it. I feel like it's either only little snippets, or it ends in something sad. Or worse, they think their friend is a girl and are shocked to find it was a guy later. x_x But yeah, the guys are pretty. I guess we'll see how it goes. EDIT: Yeaaaaah not sure this is for me. The fetish is one thing, but the fact that the other guy is like, oh, well, what if I still want to date you even though you had me raped? I can't with the yaoi rape forgiveness.

Collar Kiss

Ongoing | Ooy | 2019 released

A little rushed, but not the worst thing I've read. It'd be nice if it played out longer, especially since it tackles themes of consent and free will. You don't get that as often in omegaverse or things like it. It's all about healing, though, so I can appreciate it in a shallow sort of way. I hope we get to see much more of what happened with that other dom/switch. I love a tragic backstory.

Eh. It's just another rapey smut story. Though I did like how he grinned after biting his finger at the end.

Kashikomarimashita, Destiny

Complete | Sachimo | 2015 released

Eh. Wasn't really my thing. Too cheesy, and everything wrapped up so easily seconds after it was introduced, so it felt like all of the conflict was very artificial. It had potential, but it just didn't do it for me.

Mitto mo Nai Koi

Complete | Moriyo | 2015 released

It might be the translation in part, but this manga was just a total mess. It was all over the place and abrupt, full of a toxic relationship that couldn't be fixed by any means, let alone the minor ones the uke puts into play. But whatever. The masochist story was also messy but it was ultimately quite cute. If it hadn't been so all over the place, I think I would have really liked it. The guy being so concerned and loving over his guy while also being a sexual sadist was great. He was so sweet and loving, but totally kinky. It's nice that they work for each other like that. It's clear this mangaka has some pretty overt fetishes, especially with pain during sex. But I just couldn't get past the crazy plot and kind of confusing story. Again, I think that was mostly the translation, but I can tell things wouldn't have changed all that much if it were polished up.

Jinx

Ongoing | Mingwa | 2019 released

I didn't like BJ Alex but somehow the art here is better or something. It's a vile plot with an awful top, but I'm intrigued regardless. Sometimes we need a little toxicity to indulge in. I both like it and hate it, because the bottom is so freaking powerless, and I hate that he's stuck the way that he is. But I do look forward to things getting more complex as the story progresses. EDIT: Okay, as horrible as the top is, I'm realizing what I truly hate is how pathetic the bottom is. He's so freaking stupid and annoying. You're not cute, you dumbass. It's so irritating when he's all touched and desperately thanking this dude for buying him more. I hate that dynamic, the bottom that just sees good in everyone and is constantly Susie Sunshine. It's so irritating, like this guy is brutalizing you, but you're doing some weird mental gymnastics to convince yourself he's also being kind to you. It's just gross. It would make more sense if the bottom were suspicious, cautious, and trying to find a way out of this. Instead, he's like, "Well, time to look on the bright side!" like some sort of moron.
