Basically, while the uke, who’s 4 years older, has been collecting a ton of failed situationships that got him the reputation of a manwhore, the seme has been secretly obsessing over the uke since childhood, living off a few brief fateful interactions over the years, before eventually meeting him because of a misunderstanding and asking him to teach him sex. Despite the seme’s belief that the uke is there to screw him over on his ex’s behalf, his hot appearance in contrast with his cute yet possessive demeanour gradually have his defences crumbling down. After a month of no contact, in which the uke tries to sort things out, he eventually realises that the seme’s way of making him feel special is unparalleled, and that he can’t live without him anymore. Despite the seme’s psycho tendencies, I love how the uke acknowledges his insecurities and does anything in his power to show him that, no matter how much time they spend apart, he’s the one he loves and the one he chooses everyday to walk hand in hand by his side.

Tbh I was never really a fan of the whole ex-lovers/ second chance trope, but Driver’s High completely changed my mind. The story is executed with such emotional depth and nuance that it had me hooked from start to finish. Both are flawed in their own way, with Leo’s selfishness and JJ’s tendency to shut down instead of communicating, but despite their obvious differences they perfectly fit like two pieces of the same puzzle. The fact that the mere existence of the other was the reason behind their success in their respective careers says it all: their bond is stronger than any obstacle life may throw their way. This was such a refreshing read. Unlike most Omegaverse stories, it didn’t revolve around abuse or trauma—instead, it focused on a healthy, well-balanced dynamic between two characters who were genuinely perfect for each other. The MC was shorter and prettier than his love interest, but not in the stereotypically feminine way. His easily-irritated, independent, and competitive nature brought so much life and humor to the story. The chemistry between him and the LI was spot-on, and their interactions felt natural and fun. I especially loved how the MC was the one actively flirting and fighting for their relationship to happen, even though it was actually the ML who had been nursing a long-time crush on him. It flipped the usual dynamic in such a satisfying way.
