The Lazy Swordmaster

Ongoing | chorok cha,maru comics | 2019 released

It's not bad. Of course, the MC and his side character buddies have to fight against this evil organization. At first, it was just face slapping but then it took an intriguing turn. One thing particularly interesting about this comic is the depth of the trauma the MC has regarding heroics. It literally haunts him, so much so that I can see that the author is showcasing the MC having a mental disorder. Mental health isn't really talked about in these manhwas, so that was a welcome aspect. I like that there's a healing theme (e.g. the MC's mom and the other characters supporting the MC, albeit from the sidelines). The art is a bit sorry to look at, but otherwise, it has a rounded story. Evident character development. The action's just slice and death so not that engaging. If you're going to read this, read this for the characters and the story, not so much the action. The (prospective) FL annoys me, but that's my personal gripe. Also, a lot of the plot is simply the MC getting dragged into things he doesn't want to do, which is what you expect for the first few chapters, but it gradually becomes a drag.

Everyone else is a Returnee

The Extra is Too Strong

Ongoing | | 2022 released

The art's semi-decent. I like that pretty much everyone is buff. MC practically transmigrated with a golden finger, but he has drive. Ambition. The action is engaging. I'm don't have much hopes for the underlying story, though. We know the MC has those characteristics, but why? He's a bit weak as a character when he's supposed to be the MC.

I Returned as an FFF-Class Witch Doctor

Ongoing | | 2022 released

Better than I thought it would be. I like that he's an actual "witch doctor," meaning we get to see him do voodoo stuff. His appearance fits the bill, too. He just doesn't give a flying rock about anything. He bulldozes through fights and stuff with his powers. He does have a few cheats, but that's how protags always are. I like that he's not purely revenge driven, too. The game provides action and a smidge of mystery regarding the reason behind his regression and all that. Plus, it's funny and has great (meme-worthy) art. Streamer MC is okay.

F-Class Destiny Hunter

Ongoing | | 2022 released

Tad bit cliché and frustrating to read, but it's all justified story-wise. The art's great (almost a given). The MC is a tsundere, haha. A lot of the "villains" serve as cannon fodder. They exist to be pummeled by the MC. The MC's growth was spontaneous at the start but it settled into your typical rate of an OP MC. So far, what sets this apart from other comics of the same genre are the characters. The primary ones are a part of the MC's "family." They are also his weakness, but I didn't have to tell you that. Cliché yet not the worst.

Drug-Eating Genius Mage

Ongoing | | 2022 released

The world is actually very interesting (to me at least). You have cyberpunk combined with magic combined with supernatural powers. It’s all very layered. The protagonist is a funny one to call a “mage.” He obviously he is, but he also won’t hesitate to pull out a glock to take care of his opponents. The plot so far is a little miscellaneous; the MC takes care of jobs, earning some money here and there. The ultimate goal is likely for him to stop relying on such drug, and it’s quite entertaining to read the steps the MC takes in order to achieve that. The action’s pretty good, albeit predictable. Art’s fantastic. The side characters aren’t the developed of the developed, but their goals too intersect with the MC. I’m not the biggest fan of harem, but here, it’s tolerable. Good stuff.

The Dark Mage’s Return to Enlistment

Ongoing | | 2022 released

Really funny. Magic (?) skills combined with a militaristic setting. Reminds me of "Perfect Hybrid," otherwise known as "Genius of the Unique Lineage." Title sums it up perfectly actually. I like how the MC doesn't really feel a need to hide his powers. He's not all that calculating and just does his own thing. The reason behind his actions? His favorite girl from a video game he loves lmao. A somewhat unique twist on a popular concept.

Leveling Up With Skills

Ongoing | | 2022 released

I wasn't very moved by the first chapter, but as I kept reading, I found that the story wasn't half bad. The story had a different approach compared to others of the same genre. I liked how it was so different to the typical toss-all-the-world-building-into-the-first-chapter kind of business. We actually got to see a glimpse of the characters' motives before the MC regressed into the past. There exists an intriguing sense of mystery and thrill as of course this is mainly about survival. The female lead feels like an actual person, and I personally like how the MC isn't just your "cold and indifferent" protag. He takes the initiative to help others. Liking the action and the story so far.

Reincarnated Escort Warrior

Ongoing | | 2019 released

This is fairly good if you compare it to other martial arts manhwa. The story is relatively engaging. So far, we haven’t really seen the MC take more steps toward his goal, so what we read is kind of like a prologue of what’s to come. The FL isn’t insufferable, and she’s actually older than the MC (in body). The MC has a cheat ofc, but we have yet to see him use it a lot. I like how he’s smart and actually uses his brain. It seems to me that the FL will be really important in the future storyline. Anyway, I haven’t read the novel, but I’m excited for future chapters. Decent read as of now.

Golden Mage

Ongoing | | 2022 released

20 ATS Interesting. I’ve never seen a reincarnated MC where, in his past life, he was a pro gamer lmao. The romance is somewhat tolerable. It’s there even though you don’t want it to be, but it doesn’t interfere with the other parts of the story it seems. Can’t say it isn’t annoying to me, though. It’s a bit odd to me how his mother doesn’t even feel like his mother, but maybe that’s because he’s a reincarnated individual? Meaning that he doesn’t have to rely on his mom as much like kids his age. Anyway, the pacing is kinda wack. 20 chaps, and I don’t believe we really got to see the MC as a child enough. It’s all a bit sudden and smushed together. Art’s okay, but I’ve seen better. The MC takes steps towards his goals while trying to protect his family in the process. Also unique in that he has a golden golem?! Okay read, but if I had the choice, I’d go back to the past and not waste my time on this.
