Ao Ashi

Ongoing | Kobayashi Yuugo | 2000 released

This is such re-read material. I initially read this months ago and have probably re-read this about five to six times by now. It's that good. The most memorable thing about this (well, besides the soccer games) is the character growth. I loved seeing Aoi transform into a refined soccer player. It's not too fast, not too slow. Just enough to keep me wanting more. Call this unrealistic, but this certainly isn't a Kuroko no Basuke 2.0. The intricacies of this manga are so defined. I could re-read this again and still find things I hadn't noticed before. I love pretty much all the themes present in Ao Ashi. The team, the senpai and kouhai relationship, family— stuff like that. The climax is what I consider to be Aomori Seiran game in which I feel that Ashito finally stepped foot onto the national level playing ground. I actually really enjoyed the little tidbits of the fundamentals of soccer. Both informational and very entertaining. There's a bit of a romantic subplot (I really don't like where I see Yuuma and the reporter going…. + Ashito and Hana). With Ashito and Hana, it's not like I dislike Hana, it's just that it's repetitive for me now. Like, look at Be-Blues. There's a girl there, too, who likes the protagonist. *sigh* Just heteronormativity striking again. Anyway, that's not the point, Aoi Ashito is such an interesting (and sometimes scary) MC. His character progression is soooo nice to read. Like, his drive for soccer really fascinates me. It's because of that that he was able to grow so quickly. His drive caused problems for his interpersonal relationships. He's a but of an "unstable" character which made for a deep contrast with his usual, happy go-lucky character. The art expresses that part of him perfectly. The anime doesn't really match the manga in terms of execution in my opinion, but it's still really good and is what led me to reading this manga in the first place. Read this! You definitely won't regret it. really looking forward to Esperion's match against Barcelona.

My Daughter Is a Musical Genius

Ongoing | 이한성,하비 | 2019 released

Really good! Liking the character development. There's an obvious FL. I love the music parts and how dedicated the MC is to being a proper father to his daughter. They're both geniuses, yet the MC doesn't recognize his inner strength lmao. Slow paced, but I didn't mind it as we got to see the musical scenes from time to time. Face slapping there's, too. Drama is mid. Dislike how everything's like "oh, your daughter must be an entertainer!" when she's only like eight years old. *insert skull emoji* Shitty conflict makes me feel horrible. But I've seen worse. Update: Nooo it ended when it was getting good. *sobs* I'm disappointed we didn't get to see the MC realize his music dreams again. That was definitely a side plot plus the potential FL?? So many loose ends. The ending was extremely unsatisfying. If this had a solid ending, it would still be a 4/5.

My Home Hero

Ongoing | yamakawa naoki,asaki masashi | 2019 released

186 ATS so freaking good

Kedamono Arashi - Kiss Me Baby! -

Complete | kuroi morry | 2019 released

This was way better than the first installment ngl. I loved their communication and their life as a couple and family. Plus, the kid was so cute! The second couple wasn’t bad either. It was nice that they were honest with each other after so many years.

Talented baby squirrel

Ongoing | | 2019 released

I really love this! I’m a sucker for the doting family (esp father) trope. The MC is just so lovable… She’s the cutest squirrel princess, and I like that, as of now, it’s not very romance-focused. The MC is doing her best to live a better life that her previous one, punishing her abusers and all that. The characters are pretty cool, even the first prince, the potential ML. Like he’s a dragon??! The setting is also relatively unique with some of the characters being able to transform into animals.

Regressor of The Fallen Family

Ongoing | Painkiller | 2000 released

pretty interesting so far. i love how despite the dranatic action, there’s also room for comedy! the mc, for one, is hella funny. he’s so shameless; he reminds me of cale from TCF XD as he’s supposedly “trash.” similar direction to the greatest estate developer
