lilithespark's manga / #Student x Student(508)

summer season

Complete | 밍구르,절구,이로밀 | 2000 released

A bit dramatic, but it’s actually pretty good? Or maybe it’s just the ML’s traumatic backstory. The misunderstandings are kind of frustrating, but it adds flair I guess. I think it’s relatively realistic (?) considering they’re high school boys that have been friends for such a long time. I like the art, and the drawn out conflicts are what make this interesting (e.g. The MC doesn’t want to lose his best friend, but already, they are past that point).

Someone Like You

Complete | Euneun | 2000 released

This is really good. I especially like the imagery. I’d say this is “dark” in terms of emotion/mental disorder. The story just has tons of layers that are so interesting to peel back. Like the washed out art, for example, matches the overall tone of the story, which is relatively solemn yet almost shocking. The characters are dynamic, and I like seeing how their internal conflicts manifest externally. Very angsty and a little slow burn. There are these little moments that the MC experience, and it’s very telling of his character. By far, I’d say he is the most intriguing thing about this piece while the ML is a bit creepy/manipulative. Love the storytelling. Great art.

The edge of ambiguity

Ongoing | ez | 2019 released

38 ATS I knew this wouldn’t be wholesome, but….. The ML (Jihwan) is a walking red flag. He’s typical too since he was born with good looks and a silver spoon in his mouth. I don’t know if he has ASPD or something, but man. He’s obsessive and is manipulating the MC, and the MC doesn’t even know it. Poor MC (Sooyoung) gets caught up with two weird guys. The story is relatively dark and even a little gorey at that one part, though it’s a school “romance.” Lots of heart-racing drama…. I love the art, and rather than the actual romance, I’m more interested into what’ll happen to them later.

Doutei-sama no Omou ga Mama

Complete | SAKURABA Yurin | 2017 released

Surprisingly wholesome? I was expecting something entirely different based on the premise, but this veered into a direction that I find I liked. The “playboy” was actually a virgin trope. Anyway, their characters don’t have much substance. But if you’re looking for comedy and a straight forward romance, this might be for you.

Kuzu wa Kyuu ni wa Naoranai

Ongoing | Shisito karari | 2019 released

I thought this was really cute. It was nice to see them overcome their “first fight” as a couple. Dating isn’t all fun and games, so you’re bound to encounter one once in a while. Minato is “trash,” but he’s also relatable because of it. I don’t hate his character, but he did make the read a bit frustrating, I’ll admit. I also loveddd the extra! The vulnerability from the ML (Tsuzuki)…. Felt very real.

Kuzu demo Dekiru Renairon

Ongoing | SHISHITO Karari | 2020 released

Ahh, this was so cute!! I really lied how Minato went out of his way to “fight” for Tsuzuki, haha. Even if it mwant a change in his values. I was a bit unsatisfied with the resolution as I really wanted to see Tsuzuki shut down the blond guy for good and not through a third party. But I suppose that’s part of his nice guy charm. This is definitely my favorite part so far as it demonstrates the leads opening up more to each other and thinking about a future together as a couple. It had its comedic moments (e.g. megane guy) and was overall a pleasant read.

Kyuuso Inu wo Kame

Ongoing | Emu nanao | 2022 released

3 ATS *sigh* Why’d he have to rape him though? The ML? I can see the plot coming from a mile away. Predictable. The author just doesn’t know how to write rape. It’s used as this sexy plot device instead of the trauma-inducing act it actually is. But at least it has delinquents?

Kiss dake de Ike souda -Soshite Oretachi ha Ochiteiku-

Ongoing | Oiko komaru,Rei kagemura | 2019 released

dramatic (e.g. the wording, phrasing), attempted rape scene but i think that was handled pretty well, feels kinda unfinished, lots of loose ends with mitsuki, had there been more chapters, i would’ve wished for that to be expanded upon. but i did like the romance and how they just unabashedly loved each other. the modeling plot-line was a bit unexplained. the author tried to pass if off as kyosuke doing it bc of unrestrained list for ryo but why the entertainment industry? it’d’ve been nice if we got to see more of kyosuke actually love his job. most of the side characters felt short-lived. despite all that, i liked it actually. and the slight emphasis on the fact that they’re two guys, men, dating. i didn’t approve of the author using the sin analogy every five seconds, but the leads just love each other and that’s that. no need for further explanation.

Osananajimi Dakedo Seiteki ni Suki desu.

help this was a really fun read. and that plot twist! i just love two idiots in love lmao 3

Shiba wa Kyou mo Baka!

Ongoing | Ichikawa ichi | 2019 released

Goodness, this was really cute. When an unrequited love becomes requited! I’m a sucker for the childhood friends trope, so it’s only natural that I loved this! It was nice that their friends were accepting of Shiba showing interest in a guy. I liked their characters and how they seemed to know the other’s wants and needs in terms of a relationship. Perks of knowing each other practically since you were born lmao. This was also just really funny, and I desperately need more established relationship fluff.
