when i'm in a group of people where i don't know anyone and they're talking about things i can't offer a decent opinion about, then yes.
otherwise, i just kind of try to turn it towards things i know and enjoy, i talk about own my experiences, and i'll try listening to and being responsive to other peoples' personal experiences
