Unfortunately it's been like that since forever, and I mean like, literally forever. Dante's Inferno (one of the most infamous and oldest biblical works describing hell of the last two millenia) is literally just a self insert fanfic in disguise of this guy named Dante who couldn't forget about this one girl he saw when he was young and fantasizes ......
