my current novel interest. i rarely indulge myself in hardcore psychological stuff + dark romance but this one is just too damn good. it’s completed (62 chapters) with tags: Contemporary, Angst/Dark, Psychological, Adult (18+), Violence, Gaslighting, Coercive, Love-Hate relationships, Obsessive character.
holy shit i really didn’t expect that i would get so invested in this novel. i usually hate dumb main characters that involved with cheating and fuckboy but this one is really, really intriguing istg.
for summary; MC (older, bottom but he’s heavy on heterosexuality) was a playboy and literally dump people whenever he felt bored and he made a mistake for doing this to ML too.
ML (younger, top) was a rich handsome ass guy and he listen to every single words from MC but things go south when he secretly caught MC going to a motel with some girl client (MC was a businessman and he always flirted his way out to secure contracts).
to keep it clean, i fucking sweat buckets when reading this novel bcs hell that was a really scary situation yet i somewhat feels ML’s broken way to fix their relationship to the core, the way he tried to make MC stay with him is just…sad. it’s hurt seeing how many time he let himself being used by MC and gave him so many chances yet MC simply dgaf.

“How long do I have to wait… for even my name to be mentioned…?” — ML said this when MC frantically asked “people” for help to let him go, blabbering nonsense and calling out random people. he’s completely didn’t even think about asking ML’s help or thought that it would be ML that kidnapped him so this was when ML finally realized he was that unimportant to MC’s life.
“The truth is, I was never very good at playing the prince in make-believe, either. If Hyung was bored of it… then maybe it’s time to stop.” — ML when MC said he got bored of ML and asked to break up. too bad this is the time where ML completely flipped his switch.
“This is why I had to tie you up, because otherwise I’d end up hurting you.” — ML when MC wanted to escape. it was a scene where ML overpowered MC (after he tried to run out the room) and said “clench your teeth” before slapping MC repeatedly, until MC told him to stop bcs he started to bleed. matter of fact, i clench my teeth in fear as well. ML only did this bcs MC promised to stay put and stay quiet (ofc MC broke that promise and tried to hurt ML too)
“i don’t want to hurt you unnecessarily, but if causing pain is effective, I can do it as much as necessary. You have little endurance and more fear than you let on”. — when i said my jaw dropped when i read his line after he slapped the shit out of MC just for breaking their promises, it’s literally dropped fr.
“I’ve endured and compromised so much for you, hyung. But what have you ever given me in return? This relationship can’t survive on my effort alone. From now on, you’re the one who has to try.” — ML said this bcs their relationship was literally him being used to the fullest by MC. MC told him they’ll never have sex as he was disgusted with gay sex but he freely used ML to please himself (always making ML to blow him off) and not once did ML said no, he listened obediently even when MC dgaf about his boners lmao.
the fact that i felt a real fear when he said that is soooo fucking unreal bcs you can’t predict what’s going to happen next, you just can’t bcs it’s unpredictable. ML is the perfect kind of a lover that will do anything for you but in a twisted ways, he will attack you whether you’re high on alert or lower your guards. he is that insane.
it might be nothing new from the dark romance genre community but the writing, the settings, the vibe and the way those characters being portrayed in this novel is really damn good that i keep clicking next chapter. now i’m just waiting for it to be fully translated as there’s no free raws available, sadge. mind you i even contemplate to buy those raws myself bcs i’m that impatient and intrigued.
i’m giving this novel a chance bcs the plot is really interesting + fresh as MC was a real shitty person either way so i want to see ML mold him into a perfect shape just for him (tbh if ML did it for no reason and MC was a good person i won’t even read it as i’m not interested down that road.)
