Being completely empathetic, I understand how tough this must be for you and the best advice I can give you is that your standard of good is subjective since I assume you’re somewhat of a novice, so be easy on yourself. Take merit in your own writing and hone your own skills. And know that it’s okay to maybe even learn from your friend if you ......   reply

I'm not gonna compare the two of you or say yours could be better, I'm saying don't quit. Jealousy is normal and what you feel is totally valid, however you shouldn't let this pull you down. You are still good at what you do, you can still write and be unique in your OWN way. Don't compare yourself to them because you two aren't the same, try to pu......   reply

just because someone's story is getting more attention doesn't mean they're a better writer than you. readers naturally drift towards tropes and cliches they're familiar with. romantasy's one of the most popular, best selling genres today. doesn't mean they're the best written. if you truly think they're better at writing, then analyze why. are the......   reply

I have come to make peace with it for the most part. I tell myself that I have nothing to feel insecure about, since them being good at the task shows that I was a ......   reply

Yeah I was really pissed off, I just couldn't see how they were b......   1 reply

Ik it’s very difficult to stop comparisons and the feelings of insecurity- I’ve been there before way too many times. And as someone that’s went through your situation, let me tell you: comparison is indeed the thief of joy. You are reaching a point where this feeling takes away the joy from a hobby that you’ve enjoyed for quite a while- ......   reply

it's ok to feel that way. sometimes, people can be more good in performing the things that you taught them BUT always remember that if YOU didn't TEACH them, they will never reach that stage. believe in your own potential, not everyone can do what you can do.
