IMO, most female characters are horribly written, but there are a few standouts.
My favorite female protagonist has to be Kiri from Beauty Pop.
I like that no matter what, she remained unruffled even in the face of romance. A lot of time once the romance sneaks in, it becomes all about the romance and characters lose brain cells.
