Nothing wrong with the term yaoi. It’s been the name of these manga since 1970 and let’s you know more immediately that it’s the more erotic version of BL.

True, most are not that interesting, but some authors create some wonderful couples or potential partners and their little story arc at the end can be very satisfying. It really comes down to the author and what the side characters contributed to the plot. Example below

Idc if people enjoy using their imagination to get a good “what if” scenario going. They are just 2D characters and besides that, some authors create excellent male characters but struggle to not simply use the FCs for fan service.
