Why do you hate harem or reverse harem?

I really dislike harem or reverse harem because everyone can't be equally happy.

aw your not breaking any rules, it’s just a question. Some bitches think harems are morally wrong since society has this ideal of sticking and being faithful to one person. And since it’s been usually one guy and multiple girls, a reverse harem (which has been gaining popularity past 2-3 years) gives them a sense of power over men. I’m a women and I personally don’t mind any nor do I favor one over another.

Ok but seriously men are cocky creatures they believe themselves above women since a long time ago , they feel that women are there for their own satisfaction, yes time changed but you can still see it s hidden and indirect aspects arround you. Most of the time in harem the guy is cocky selfish and blah blah blah towards women so ueah to me that s why i hate harem with cocky bastards

Honestly, I'm not a fan both harem or reverse harem (and I usually don't read a story if that's the genre)

But from what I observed many stories with harem genre are usually ecchi, so it's kinda on how they view women like that, there are some good harems but are overshadowed by the trash ones and the harem usually ruins the plot I have seen some with a potentially good plot but the harem is running it

I generally find that harem stories tend to be less about the relationships and more about indulging in guilty pleasures and power fantasies. Rich, powerful, desired by all. There's a variety of personalities in the harems primarily to appeal to different reader tastes.

A lot of harem just come down to fan service, basically, rather than attempting deep relationships. Not a bad thing, mind you, but it's rarely something that defines the story. Harems are part of slice of life, adventrue, etc. But rarely romance.

(It's for the dudes ya know?)

Let's start this off by saying if anyone that is a major character in the works I read is poorly written or has a lack of character development I find it hard to read and may stop reading the work. Which goes for any genre not just harem or reverse harem.
At the end of majority of the reverse harem's (At least the one's I have read) the girl will end up in a relationship with a single character. And the other characters will branch off into their own relationships or doing something that is separate from the girl (career, travel, hobby etc). Their character development is a lot better.
In many harem's (maybe not all but a lot of the one's I have seen) the women are often over-sexualized (ecchi or smut) and have nothing outside of the main character. And often times even if they're powerful they can be poorly written. In some instances this can be the annoying trait, overly reliant on the main character or it can be them inferring with the main characters plans. Also, the main character doesn't really make moves to reject anyone or accept anyone he just kind of keeps them around.
Also, these two genres are targeted at two different audiences. So, it is not unexpected for people who like one genre to dislike the other. But, everyone has their own opinions and preferences. I'm just speaking from what I have seen.

Plus, some have irritating plot like MC will gain powers if he touched a woman's body or something like that uhuuuuhhhhh those really sucks

I dont rlly read either of the genres but i understand why ppl don't like harem more than reverse harem. Female characters in harem are more dumbed down and over sexualized then male characters in reverse harem.
They're made to look stupid, horny, and easily taken advantage of(because the genre is mostly aimed at straight men and that's what they're into).

For reverse harem, the male characters are more prince like, heroic, and courteous(because its mostly aimed at straight women and that's what they're into).

Its also important to note that its mostly straight women on this site... And since harem is made for straight boys hitting puberty, everyone who doesn't find it hot like those boys do-- would instead just be annoyed by how useless & stupid the female characters are.
So harem is hated at least thats what i think.

I don't like harem and reverse harem because of too much fanservice and sexualizing the the love interests. It's really annoying because mc won't reject them just cuz they will be sad or heartbroken.

I especially hate harem in fantasy genre where mc is on a journey on becoming strong because as the story progresses the plot usually falls apart because of 7 different girls that the mc has to look out for.

I guess that is just how society views them. I personally do not enjoy both harem and reverse harem tho coz I feel like some of them gets unfair treatment.

I guess harem is mainly foucused on the girls bodys. The mc will also be poorly written and the plot is sometimes overused like him rebirthing, finding a girl peeing or something along those lines. The girls dont do much either or its only one girl doing something and the other's only being jealous. I dont like harem or reverse harem unless everyone's happy. I have found 2 harem manga's thats intresting and funny (for me) so yeah. Currently dont have a favorite reverse harem because i kinda tend to stay away from them, because i know the girls just gonna smile and catch the hearts of the dudes. In general i want everyone to be happy.
