It’s fetishizing if ur not mlm or nblm to read yaoi. But it’s okay to read bl if ur in it for the plot :))

I usually reply “I read romance story-novels-mangas” because I read all genres (bl,gl, and straight)

The answer to ur question is yeah I would tell them what genres I read if they ask.

For me it depends on the type of person I am going to tell. Few of my friends know I read yaoi. They don't judge me at all. I think a person's personality can tell you if they will judge you or not.
But it's good that you don't give a fuck and don't hide it. I need that kind of confidence ╥﹏╥

If someone were to ask me, I’d gladly say that I read yaoi and bl . It’s nothing so bad to hide honestly . Kinda sad how people think it’s fetishizing tho

It's not fetishizing even if you're not mlm or nblm to read yaoi. I'm a gay man and it's literally not. Let people read whatever they want.

    haze_p1 April 29, 2021 3:59 am

no cuz lgbtq+ is still kind of taboo in my country and it's better to hide it from other, but then again, i already told my friends (directly and indirectly) that I real bl comics and they didn't change so I guess they're fine with it

it’s not fetishization. that idea came from a sexist and misogynistic japanese site to shame women for having different interests on other things. the word ‘fujoshi’ has a bad connotation in it but it’s been reclaimed. i think it means undesirable women or something. there’s absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying bl, it is normal for a non-lesbian woman to feel pleasure looking at two men having sex since they are attracted to that gender. non-gay men watch lesbian sex all the time, are they shamed for it?

(accidently pressed ‘post so here’s the continuation. sorry im an idiot.) however, when a woman enjoys bl but does not support irl mlm relationships, there’s a problem there. or women who harass irl mlm couples or romantically ship real people of the same gender (regardless of their sexual orientation). we shouldn’t stop using the word fetishization so loosely especially when it does not do any good for the LGBTQ+ or the allies who just enjoy bl/gl. if we gatekeep stories just because of the genders of the couple, we are not helping in normalizing and de-stigmatizing same-gender relationships. this is coming from a queer woman who enjoy both bl and gl. have a nice day.

p.s.: i am not attacking you or anything. sorry if it came off that way.

Its annoying asf we just like it with that logic gay people can't read/watch straight romances cause it will be fetishizing too.

They wouldn’t watch straight porn or 2 straight ppl having sex bc that wouldn’t / shouldn’t turn them on..? I literally just said yaoi. Bl isnt yaoi. Yaoi is the sex part

I agree with some of what ur saying,, but I never said women shouldn’t read BL I said YAOI. It would literally be erasing much needed lgbt representation if only gay men could read bl (which is just romance) so I don’t want that HAHA. I’m saying “fetishization” bc women who read yaoi (which is the sex part of “BL”) is literally using gay men for their own sexual pleasure isn’t it? I can’t think of any reason women would read yaoi if it wasn’t for the same reason men watch lesbian porn which is NOT okay either. Because that is also fetishizing lesbians. And I’m not using that term loosely at all lmao. have a good day 2

Bl yaoi and shounen ai are three different things bro bl is the umbrella term for “boys love” yaoi is homoEROTIC relationships between men (so the sex part) and shounen ai is just romance. The only thing I’m saying is fetishization is yaoi bc if ur not a gay guy then why would u be getting turned on by 2 gays f*cking ?? That IS wrong and IS fetishization. Same thing with guys getting off to lesbian porn. Gross.

I’m sorry to be the one to tell u this, but women reading yaoi (homoerotic relationships between men - the sex part) is fetishizing mlm relationships. They shouldn’t read that and get turned on by it, period.

Non lgbt women can read what ever they want as long as there respectful towards lgbt people who cares mind ya business. These are literal drawings bro its not that serious as long as they differentiate fiction from real life who cares.
