I actually very much agree with you. If you take the fact that literal demons (in a stereotypical way) don't understand feelings and in general are species that should be evil by nature, Yato did a far better job than her husband which is a human. And also since I'm a sucker for 2nd MLs i can surprisingly say that i don't feel bad for or like the general at all.

I said he was a better choice, not the best choice. At least he takes the time the wonder what he's feeling and why he's feeling it. But still, he's a demon and you can't hold him to the same standard as humans. The lesser of 2 evils really.

The general on the other hand occasionally feels guilty and gives her false hope. He's a hypocrite that wants to be seen as a good person but when true trials of character come, he fails the morality test and he knows it but still won't repent or makeup for his actions. The physical embodiment of all greed, pride, and anger. Honestly Soru is too good for literally everyone!

So my whole take on it is that yeah to do what he did out of love. He wants to love and receive love from her so he took her eyes so she wouldn’t be scared of him and yes, traumatizing, but it benefited her in the end because she doesn’t see all the invisible things that were harming her. That’s why she was so scared as a little girl was because she could see everything and you to not the greatest. He’s taking his trauma Out on her, the same as the general but he is a dming. Hwy doesn’t know love and once love, and is trying to the best way to cash the general, it’s just a scorned man a man who was made to feel a little by another man so he takes out his anger on a woman who had nothing to do with it woman he knows was abused and graded and persecuted and he doesn’t want to miss his feelings because he feels like she’s underneath him and he used her literally and he knew it was bad

This was so hard to read. But from what I think I read, I get what you are trying to say about all three parties.

Well I'll be damned, this comment exploded in discussion lmao. I don't know if i like this or not since we got back our comments.
In my opinion long story short, Yato is the better option because even tho he stole her eyes he was still affectionate and protective of Soru while she was growing up and even now. Yes, every now and then he thought he was always searching her for because he thought that he wanted to kill/eat her and that's because demons don't understand feelings. You have literal proof of that in this (latest) chapter. He doesn't understand tears, sadness, love... that's why he's asking what it means. The general on the other hand, he also had thoughts like Yato (about killing her or abandoning her), he literally only let her be because of the fact that she proved she can help him by cutting herself. He even felt happy and proud afterwards. He was ignoring and neglecting her in the meantime and had little to almost no contact with her. He just feels ashamed now because he saw her what she looked like in her severe condition.

My bad if it was hard to read, I’ve been drinking wine but my point was is the lesser of the two evils is Yato,Yato been seeking love he is wanting to be loved and understand love while her husband is too wrapped up in the title of general and sad over his ego that he treated a abused woman poorly and yes he has his own trauma, but so does the yato
Yato is hurting people because he wants to be human and understand emotion while her husband is human and understands emotion and continuously hurts her. The husband honestly needs to grow up and it’s sad that they’re both bad male leads and the literal demon is a better man than her husband. And yes, Yato stole her eyes, but I think it did benefit her because she didn’t see everything that was traumatizing her and she became happy that she had a friend or at least somebody to console her in her sad life. Yatto is bad, but the general/husband is worse
