In the original korean version he said something close to "I like you". I don't know why LZH mess up so bad with the translation. They do it all the time

    I had used Google translate for this chapter when it first came out and i remember it being “I like you”. Usually the translations are not too different from what I get from Google translate, but sometimes they’re totally different.

    No but LZH always tend to translate "I like you" to "I love you" which is pretty inaccurate. It precipitates the whole story events. Especially with this kind of plot where a sincere love confession from Lee Nok can make a huge difference for Jaeshin's destiny. We can already tell we're very close but Lee Nok is still not there yet. He still needs a bit if time for deep love feelings

    Yeah there’s a huge difference between “I like you” and “I love you”. Personally, I would have like for them to keep “I like you”. It doesn’t invalidate Lee Mom’s feelings, it just makes them more accurate.
