May be corrected in the Official Translations
Correct me if I'm wrong but if the one given the title is the woman and the woman didn't gain the title through marriage, they would be called count, Duke, marquis, empreror etc. even if they're a woman
I'd like to respectfully add information here :I did research and its supposed to be "countess" regardless of how she obtained the title
" Countess: Is the female equivalent of an earl and a count. This title can be used by an unmarried woman in her own right (or by the wife of a man who is an earl or a count.) "

I'd like to mention (even though nobody asked) that when the term "emperor" is used for a female monarch in translations, its probably just the translation style because if we were to accurately refer to female monarch's we would have to use
" female emperor " which leaves some people confused as to why they didnt use "empress" instead.
Just mentioning this incase some are confused with why count, countess (other noble titles... ) and emperor, female emperor, empress have different uses
