as someone who claims to be “just a reader,” you should still understand basic respect and ethics. if you’re an adult, you should already know what’s right and what’s wrong. asking why it’s disrespectful for someone else to upload another group’s work only shows a lack of awareness. when a group is already committed to a project, it’s common courtesy to reach out first before reposting or continuing their work. it would’ve been perfectly fine if the person had asked whether the group had dropped it before uploading the recent chapters. that’s what proper etiquette is, respecting the effort and commitment of others.
Not when its clearly not about money or anything near that. They dont get anything out of this and if the last chapter is being left in the cold that long whats wrong if someone just adds that one. It looks good and to me it sounds more like whinning tbh we should help each other
It actually is disrespectful. Imagine the scanlation group taking their time and effort to translate the chapter, clean each page, typeset each line, and then quality assurance. Those are hours/days down the drain because someone uploaded over them.

The group is providing high-quality translations for free and sacrificing their own valuable time in the process. The least they deserve is some basic respect or for people to follow the system/code.
I think Morse_Fellow already said this in the comment below, but it IS actually a general code of honor or rule between scanlation groups (this was already a thing for manga, before webtoons were even a thing) that people should not upload over them or ATLEAST ask for permission if they could take over the project instead (and that's usually when the manga has not been updated for like several months or more than a year)
It's not considered "help" if the person who uploaded over them didn't even notify them that they were gonna do it. The group still lost all the time and effort. This is really not whining. I think you should learn more about how scanlation groups work tbh.
Imagine working so hard FOR FREE just for someone to machine translate something and upload it because they're iMpAtiEnT. A scanlation group has multiple projects, the impatient person has just one.
Also, we should appreciate scanlation groups more than ever now. People barely pick any new projects anymore, they just upload official chapters and that's it, I at least crave some stuff that is not translated officially and deserves to be read.

Yeah, I spent hours cleaning this chapter, and morse has been translating and typesetting, and we felt incredibly disheartened to see the hours of work basically wasted and not respected.
If people really want to help, they could volunteer to the group already doing it, or at least message them and say hey are you still translating this? That’s literally how I started working with this team! I noticed something not being updated often so I offered to help. I didn’t just start doing it myself.
“That long”? It was 41 days. And the translator didn’t ask us before doing it.
