No no. It wasn't love. Just interest. He could see echi's potential as a swordsman. Even though she looked like any ordinary lady tou would see in a ball. But that insufferable bastard took it as yurien falling for her at first sight and decided to place the cursed sword at her home. When yurien saw her again, as a "demon of the cursed sword", he didn't recognise her immediately. But after he subdued her and said that it wasn't echi's fault, that no one would pick up the demon sword of their own will, echi felt that at least there's one person who understands her. She fought back desparately and yurien saw that same purple flame he saw inside a noble lady on that banquet long time ago. He recognised it was her and that she was still there, fighting the cursed sword. And yk what happened after. Echi finally lost control and killed everyone. But yurien still didn't love her at that point.
It happened after he woke up in the past, and saw the erased time through rangiosa. Yes, rangiosa shared his memories of the time after yurien's death, and yurien saw how hard echi worked to make everything right. He saw her struggles, her pain, and how she would occasionally look at rangiosa with a pained expression and call out yurien's name. It was that moment, yurien's heart went *BADUMP* . And it didn't take long for him to realise he loved her. Just wait until you see his pov. He's sooo damn adorable!!
