No no. It wasn't love. Just interest. He could see echi's potential as a swordsman. Even though she looked like any ordinary lady tou would see in a ball. But that insufferable bastard took it as yurien falling for her at first sight and decided to place the cursed sword at her home. When yurien saw her again, as a "demon of the cursed sword", he didn't recognise her immediately. But after he subdued her and said that it wasn't echi's fault, that no one would pick up the demon sword of their own will, echi felt that at least there's one person who understands her. She fought back desparately and yurien saw that same purple flame he saw inside a noble lady on that banquet long time ago. He recognised it was her and that she was still there, fighting the cursed sword. And yk what happened after. Echi finally lost control and killed everyone. But yurien still didn't love her at that point.
It happened after he woke up in the past, and saw the erased time through rangiosa. Yes, rangiosa shared his memories of the time after yurien's death, and yurien saw how hard echi worked to make everything right. He saw her struggles, her pain, and how she would occasionally look at rangiosa with a pained expression and call out yurien's name. It was that moment, yurien's heart went *BADUMP* . And it didn't take long for him to realise he loved her. Just wait until you see his pov. He's sooo damn adorable!!

Awww this is so sweet! Thanks for the spoiler! Can you also say why the 2nd prince gave the sword to Echi? So many people died as a result, what did he gain out of it? And in this New life, does he get the consequences of his actions?

∆ At first, it wasn't decided which noble house they would send the sword to. They wanted to choose a noble who wasn't politically influential, keeps a low profile, and their territory isn't large. There were many candidates. The reason why Roaz territory was chosen was entirely because of that twisted bastard. He's always loved to torment yurien since he was a child. Once little yurien saved an injured bird and kept it as a pet, but that psycho didn't like that yurien was happy and shot the bird with an arrow right in front of his eyes. He wanted yurien to cry, get mad, or even attack him. Any one of those reactions would've made him really happy. He's a f*cking psycho.
∆ About the gains, it was because of the throne. The first prince had a powerful maternal family backing him. Even though he wasn't much talented in sword, his policies and other aspects made him a good choice to be emperor. While the 2nd prince's mother wasn't from a powerful family. His bad temper is infamous among the nobles. He'd beat his servants to death when he's in a bad mood. No one wants an emperor like that. But the emperor wanted the 2nd prince to be the heir, not the first prince.
Did you know the emperor actually loved yurien and 2nd prince's mother but had to marry the 1st prince's mother to make his position stable. First prince's mother died at childbirth, and after that he immediately married the one he truly loves, but even that woman died giving birth to yurien. Oh well, so the 2nd prince was trying to make merits.
They'd place the cursed sword in a small territory, far away from the capital. After the news of the cursed sword is recieved, the 2nd prince would go and subdue the demon. Then he wouldn't be below 1st prince. That was the plan, what they didn't expect was in that seemingly small territory lived a prodigy, and everything went wrong. As planned, the 2nd prince did go to subdue echi but failed. His entire army was annihilated, and he died while running away from echi.
∆ He pays for his sins. I'll be revealing some big plot points if i say how, but just know it was a public execution after all his crimes were revealed. People spit and throw rocks at him. Ahh..the satisfaction i felt looking at his petty pride getting crushed. Even while walking to the guillotine he couldn't accept his reality lmao.
