Y’all she is literally a child, not even a teenager. She’s not a 20-year old with life experience in her world, she was literally locked in a small space for the first 12 years of her life. When you encounter the one person who actually treated you like a human being throughout most of your life, you’re going to trust them. So no, she’s not stupid. Naive but not stupid.

Ahahaha she was not a normal child! XD
You guys are too soft. Remember, she was able to escape from Marquess Sperado's place because of her smarts and guts, which impressed the Duchess. Now you all babying her. Psshh

Book smarts is not the same as street smarts yeah when she knew who her enemies were she could come up with a plan to get out of it but it took her needing to be betrayed and almost killed to realize who her enemies were in the first place the same thing happened here she is not good at judging character as no child is she believes what's on the surface rather than looking within. Remember the duchess was a risk she got lucky and the duchess was actually a good person but she could've easily been betrayed with this as well. Also this time she thought everything with her birth parents was over so she let her guard down as most people would especially since this was someone she knew and one of the very few people who was kind to her genuinely.

    Σ(っ°Д °;)っ Couldn't say it better!!
It's always easy to criticise with an outsider POV but when you're in the action fire, even as an adult, you tend to not have the global picture of the situation and so you do your best but not always the smartest things... And here we are judging the choices of a smart girl (who has been abused, wronged, lied to... for most of her life) when she's finally trying to open up, trust others and move on for her shitty nightmare past...

Seems you all just agreeinng with me. Be it book smarts or street smarts, clearly she was stupid. Imagine growing up in that kind of twisted family, it would be more realistic to at least keep a minimum amount of suspicion. Say it with me: BEING TOO TRUSTING IS STUPID.

And just to clear it up my dear fellow readers, I'm not victim blaming her or judging her. I'm just stating the obvious - she was stupid for disregarding all the alarming signs:
    1. Where's the baby?
    2. Where's the husband?
    3. Why can't she remove the bracelet?

I'm not saying she will forever be stupid. She made a mistake, that's my point! Why ya'll being triggerred?

    Gosh. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

And just to clarify, she might be desperate, but she was street smart when she prepared for her meeting with the Duchess. Imagine going through that discourse and not being impressed after she was able yo stay on her toes for bargaining insurance of her safety for power and assistance to the Duchess. She's not just some cowardly child who went to the Duchess to ask "Help, help, I'm being maltreated!"

Instead she used her brains, not only her knowledge of the spies in the Sperado house and the book info she had studied well.

I see your point ^^ but in my opinion being stupid and making a mistake are 2 way different stuff... If "stupid" is replaced by "delusional" then I'd agree more with you, because I don't find "stupid" fitting right...
Anyway I find it fun to discuss and argue about different POV or understandings of a story so I wasn't bashing you or anything (=・ω・=) I just retaliate better to what Gaileida said and how she said...

(and it's even funnier when people say the same thing in different way so everyone misunderstand and get at each other throat when overall they agree ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ so let's grab popcorn and trigger each other on purpose !!)

Aww. Thanks for that. :) But really some people are taking this way too seriously; the emotional investment is ginormous.

Anyways, yeah maybe delusional could be used, but it points to schrizophrenic tendencies and paranoia, which she clearly did not have being evidenced by her too trusting nature.

Lol I was just putting in my 2 cents cause there were things no one was mentioning anywhere. I will clarify one thing it's not that she cannot remove the bracelet she chose not to since it was a gift. She wanted to at first but convinced herself not to. Also if you're thinking about how a business is run it would make sense that the baby is not there and could just be assumed that the husband is looking after it elsewhere while the wife entertains the guest. But that's just me looking at it from a logic standpoint and if I were in her situation I would ask about it but really wouldn't think anything was up cause I mean it's not like they were in the house part of the building but the restaurant part. I do wanna see if Leslie will learn from this it would be huge character development later if she does I'm actually a little excited to see if that's the case. I also wanna see the reactions when they find chain bits in the bracelet cause man chains in a bracelet really just give prisoner vibes. Not sure if I want the Sperado family to die to Altera there in the street or a public execution. Honestly both are good options die in the street like the trash they are or publically executed for all to see and scorn.

Honestly rather than being at each other's throats I saw this as a debate I mean in all honesty everything is just opinionated so there is no true correct answer to this question. It's the whole fun of words such as stupid that you can take in a whole variaty of different ways I mean each person thinks the word is a different level of insulting for example, some people think nothing of the word and others get so heated they'll punch you for even saying it.

    Yiss May 20, 2020 10:21 pm

She is a child but decided to seek help in the most powerful famliy, knowing what to offer to get accepted, and that is what makes her so different. Suddenly, she became super friendly with people who used to know when she was with the Sperados... dunno, but she did something careless, knowing her previous experiences :D

I have seen that some people here expected the same ... i just hope the character does not lose focus, cause it was super brave and intelligent the start she had, and aside from the art, im here for the story and the main character (i dunno why but usually get pretty tired of mcs)

    Peace and love (=・ω・=)

Yep, not the worst meaning, just that she was naive/clumsy/ whatever meaning you have in English cause im not a native English speaker but stupid is not a strong word here, depending on the tone of your voice.

Thanks for the common sense, pretty strange to see lately in this lands, quite exotic (≧∀≦)

I really like this chain of comments ! Debating and still being civil is rare on the internet (≧∀≦) It was nice to discuss with you all ^^
And also, being a not native English speaker I agree with what Yiss said, and also on the connotation "delusional" could have... I just could find a better world ( ̄∇ ̄")

    Good day/night to you !

Mm. Here’s the thing. It’s not stupidity. It’s naivete. She is a very intelligent child, yes. But going through the streets smarts comments, she was street smart because 1) She was forced to be taught how nobility works so she wouldn’t embarrass her abusive family when she would have to act like the servant for her older sister out in public. And 2) She was in constant survival mode. Living in a small space and being abused for just existing, having the fear that you could die of starvation, neglect, or being killed by your family 24/7 will leave you in constant survival mode. So she had her guard up with the Duchess when she met her because of that; because she knew that the Duchess could turn her away. Then, when the Duchess didn’t turn her away and they babied her, wouldn’t you think she’d be a little naive? Once the court ruled that she should live with the Duchess, the whole family babied her constantly, the stark contrast to what she had to endure the first 12 years of her life; something she had never known before could happen for her.

Additionally, the one time she was treated as a human being in the Sperado house was for a few short months by Amroa (I think her name was?). It’s not the fact that she’s stupid; as the higher comments said before, the word stupid can have different meanings for every person. Stupid to me, sounds as though she knows nothing of the world or the people around it. It can be applied in some situations with her, but I think the word “stupid” should be applied with Leslie if she was in a certain situation where she just outright trusted a stranger that she has never met before and they coax her into a carriage to kidnap her. That’s stupid on Leslie’s part.
