The whole Notlikeothergirls isnt a dream. Its a cringefest! It is literally bringing down other women by casting them as imaginary shallow villains while thinking you different because you breathe. I mention that because this manhwa is exactly that. It is the main reason why authors and fans are unsympathetic towards a minor character that is not rich. Because the manhwa has deluded that all Chloe does is good because she is a duchess. Even though the only thing Chloe has been good for is just transmigrating into a body of a duchess just like becoming a sugar baby.

Im not talking about the reality of ugly old sugar daddies. Im talking about the fantasy of a rich, handsome sugar daddy that allows you to act like you dont want anything from them and thus have a moral highground while still lowkey wanting them to lavish you with gifts. Basically, you only see Chloe as the MC because she is written to be seen in a good light only. She is written to reject material things like that is her virtue even though she is already hypocritically drowning in said material things at the expense of the ML. That is why I call it innocent gold digging. The irrational fantasy of being quirky and moral just to attract someone hot and wealthy, when at the end of the day, MC is just like any other girl wanting the same prospect of financial stability. There is nothing wrong with wanting things, but I believe that the isekai shows a really morally snobby side of the community that is in denial of wanting things and yet having the MLs shower their MCs with all the things she can have in the world.


This is always a trend that fans and authors get drunk on in isekai. Its hot guys giving you shit with no regards for the cost, that sells in fiction. La Dolce Vita Adelaide has the duke giving her a proposal made out of jewels, Duchess with an empty soul has the duke funding her entire wedding and buying an entire hotel just for her to get rest, Why are you doing this My Duke has the Duke literally force his wife to use a huge amount of money, Raeliana also the same, Dr Elise at least good because she a doctor, this is just the same and the list goes on. Hot guys giving you shit you dont deserve just because you are quirky, is the fantasy that sells. More than the actual story, most manhwa focuses on the lavish gifting instead, which is why a lot of the times, romance and plot suffers.

What I want to write is, its not just about the death penalty. Its the fact that provider fantasy has really deluded fans to think that Chloe is a moral person for literally driving someone to their death sentence and feeling no remorse as a 21st century woman, just because of that one time she rejected a box of jewelry. What I want to say, is Chloe is just a basic bitch like any other and the only reason why she is MC is because well... she transmigrated into the MC role and the reason why fans like Chloe is because fans can relate wanting to have all these nice fantasy lavish life with minimal effort while in total denial that we are all basic bitches that are totally no different from the maids in this manhwa. Ah, a better way to summarise. You, by you I mean the fans and the authors, are not rejecting lavish romantic life because you have a philosophical vendetta against materialism. If so you would be someone like a Diogenes. You are rejecting lavish life because you do not have it and have not been given it. Authors reject the lavish life and yet drown their MC in gifts because they cant write well on how the MC earns the lavish life. Thats why its always, I transmigrated into a rich girl stories. Transmigration is not used as a tool for the plot, but a mental crutch for why MC has everything and perfect in everyway from day 1. It is to fantasize about the lavish life through Isekai in order to factor out the need to earn the lavish life realistically and morally, and thus also factor out the morality that comes with abuse of authority in Isekai.

"Sleeping Beauty" is that true love can conquer anything in its path. Aurora and Prince Phillip are meant to be together from the moment they lay eyes on each other. They never question their commitment or doubt their passion for the other. Not to mention,in the movie, dragon Maleficent,that cursed her to sleep for eternity, has to be slain in the romantic timeline. It is an outdated concept cos its centuries old tale but it is definitely not self insert. The movie also reinforced love for loves sake when Aurora had to be in an arranged marriage.

This Isekai? the duke literally neglects his wife and was the sole fault that led her to being bullied, so its like, Love at first sight only if you are quirky and fake about materialism? prove your love by beating a maid three hundred times and hanging her? The lack luster romance as well does not make sense and will not happen in reality unless you sucking up to a rich old sugar daddy. Like sure Sleeping beauty is a pretty average concept because its a tale from over hundreds of years old, but isekai, for a modern invention, is just blatant fantasy and indulgence. Might as well wank off to a picture of a mansion with Chris Hemsworth in it and you would have the same effect.

Little mermaid is the closest to Isekai because she gets to go to the human world and get everything she wants just by being strange. And that is why I detest the disney version. It is one of those early works that tried to avoid the super moral but super sad true ending written by HCA and thus inspired the isekai genre. Ariel gets everything she wants after a small conflict that had to be solved by Eric alone because her father gave her a pair of legs even after her actions led to him turning into seaweed. Its entertaining, just like isekai. But there is nothing deep about it, and just like isekai, its morally dubious in its need to be lighthearted and happy for the MC all the fucking time

Just because Disney screwed up doesnt mean Isekai is off the hook. Because Disney is more or less changing their script and their characters have to work for their happy ending. Here we have Isekai drawn this year, that is more indulgent and senseless than movies from decades ago and stories from centuries ago.
