She grown up in an abusive home. She don’t know what genuine love is. Her parents marriage was broken, her biological father didn’t care for her and she told ginger once that she can’t trust people because even her step mother was nice and loving at first but that didn’t last long and she started to lock her up or hit her when she was having a bad day. In other words Elisa was her punching bag. She knows ginger didn’t marry her for love. He married Her because he needed a good and obedient wife, he even told her that and told her not except anything from him. And then his past lover coming back and making a move on him, Elisa who watched her dad leaving his dying wife for his lover know that marriage is just a word and in the end of the day if she shows her feelings or tell ginger what she really want he might leave her because she’s no longer the quiet wife he wanted. She knows that ginger started to notice her feelings and he still not paying them any attention, what’s mean that he doesn’t really care. And he doesn’t try to talk to her!!! When she ask him about Julia he change the subject, he suddenly tell her not to do stuff and not explain anything. The only way to solve this is for him to man up and face his feelings. Till then he deserve the cold shoulder she’s giving him. She’s not dumb she’s heart. She never been important to anyone and with all his past actions you can’t expect her to see the situation differently.

People can’t just get over a trauma. She already faced her feelings, and ginger knows her feelings too. She literally said in this chapter that ginger ignoring her feelings mean she already rejected even before she confessed. She in a survival mode. She don’t want to divorce and go back to her abusive home. (She said that too in this chapter) so the only thing she can do is going back to how she acted when they just married so he wouldn’t get sick of her and divorce her. And remember he told her not to love him or expect anything from him. Those words are like a curse for her and the only way to lift the curse is for him to take those words back, and the only way to take those words back is for him to face his feelings. Till then she’s in no position to do or say anything really.
Well if she keeps acting like that, they WILL get a divorce (but they won't, BC this is not real)
