Look, I liked the story for the most part and the art was beautiful but y’all need to stop acting like the beginning of their relationship wasn’t problematic.
Minato was in his third year of middle school when they met, so he was 13 going 14, when he promised him to meet him in his coming of age ceremony he was still in his hometown, meaning he didn’t start college yet, but maybe I’m wrong on this one, anyways that was supposed to be 6 years later, making Minato 19.
And now yeah, minato was then legal but that doesn’t make it as okay as some of y’all are making it out to be.
Now I know their love was genuine and all, but in real life that would scare the shit out of me if my 13 year old friend made a promise with some adult guy in his late 20s to meet him 6 years later and the adult taking it seriously and looking forward to it. I’m sorry but how can you fall for a KID when you’re this old and want to be called normal.
Now I’m not saying the story is bad. It’s a good story with beautiful story telling and art. However just because you like the story doesn’t mean you have to justify the problematic aspects of it and acting like it’s normal when it’s not. Stop acting blind to it.
You can like the manga and acknowledge its problematic aspect at the same time.
I mean it wasn't bad and the art was beautiful but no way in hell naoki wasn’t a predator on this one, minato reminding him of his old classmate doesn’t make it any better.
And the prez unknowingly did a good one by separating them on that coming of age ceremony rendez-vous, cuz meeting him again at 18 is only legal on paper but exudes major Drake energy in real life which is hella creepy when you think abt it
