And even when he was alive, he was already being poisoned for a long time and the bad dudes in the palace wouldn't stop trying to kill him if he had survived (he knew that, he kept taking the poison willingly because if not, the maid would die and even himself would die another gruesome way)
Also the reincarnation/possession thing was a smart move from the author to make the story more unique compared to others of the same genre... (and also an easy fix for the age gap without making it really weird)
Still he keeps on being the same stupid big guy inside, he's hust being debuffed T﹏T
