There is something so real about Maeda. His thought process, actions, and personality are realistic and that is what makes this feel almost melancholy throughout the story.

I myself like some strangulation as well (receiving it) so the direction I hope this doesn't take is, "Oh I love you, now I won't strangle you." kinda thing and that's the happy ending. Both tender, deep love and BDSM can coexists in a healthy relationship. Strangulation kink is not for everyone but it's not an evil act.
