There is no "the greatest love story" there is no only happy times and good memories
And people we love and we're close to can be the bad guy of someone else's life
You have to believe you have to wait and eventually things will get better
And you should try to keep making it better
And that taste of sweetness when you know it was all worth it is the best feeling in the word

So he's basically battling a whole war in his head with how he feels for wolf Vs wolf's future. We don't see wolf's side of that aspect so hopefully we'll see this season.

But I was just rereading it , and in those chapter when Wolfgang is trying to get him anything to show his love ,he told the pink haired dude that wolfgang feels that way out of obsession and ownership ,not just love

The reason he buys him all those things is literally because he wants to buy him things, it's like I want to buy my boyfriend things because it reminds me of him and to let him know I love him, I don't buy it to show possession or obsession for him. But the difference is that shin rejected all the expensive gifts because they were meaningless to him, he accepted a flower from him because even though it was simple, it made his heart flutter. Wolf doesn't know why he isn't accepting it, so it's miscommunication between them honestly. Shin misunderstands his actions, maybe because of what he had to go through when he was younger but he interprets it all as obsession although wolf does show possession for him, it's never forced, if anything it's wolf who is wrapped around shin's finger but shin thinks its the opposite, that he himself is wrapped around wolf's fingers. Honestly they just need to talk it all out because from now on and even further, more and more miscommunication will happen so thats what we are gonna see this season and then shin will battle with the negative part of himself and will hopefully allow himself to be selfish as to keep wolf all to himself because that's what he really wants. But he's fighting it because he's thinking logically for the kingdom. Remember that we barely see wolf's point of view, we mainly see shin's point of view and his thoughts and his feelings so it's wrong to assume that what shin says about wolf is right because we don't know what wolf is thinking.
