Get wrecked you little bitch. Scum. The first thing you do after being sincerely refused is trample all over a kindhearted person who considered you a dear, lifelong friend, and then, instead of apologizing and getting your act together you want to force your narrative, gaslight and bully into getting what you want? Shameless rotten immoral

Like, it's been in my list forever, cause I originally read it here, but idk how to read it? With the new system in place, it says it unlocks but it doesn't? I'm reading on web, not on phone app.

    Luvbinger3 December 4, 2020 5:38 pm

Right ! idk the new system confuses me

    Bibidibabidiboo December 4, 2020 5:49 pm

You should probably install the app cause it's easier but sadly even there you only get to read 1 ch per day

That casual ''next year'' instead of ''next week'' or ''next month'' really does pack a punch.

Is bcs this is the R15 version, there's R18 version which was being transed at the beginning, but it switched over when this new group took over.

Why choose to make it sympathetic to the military tho... japan was in the sack with Hitler during that war and the horrors they committed.....

    Arina REx November 15, 2020 6:49 pm

This is written by Japanese author, what did you expect? Plus, I wouldn't say the author is making is sympathize with the military. More like the ordinary people who got dragged into war and lost their lives because of it

    bookmunchies November 15, 2020 7:18 pm

Thing is, japan is real huge on denial of the atrocities committed by their military and government, it might seem a small thing, but it serves as another form of propaganda.

I wasn't denying the fact that the Japanese military committed atrocities or that Japan has a terrible record of denial of their wrongdoings, but I don't think this manga in particular is propaganda. Author isn't making readers sympathize with the military or regime, she's making us feel sorry for the ordinary citizens who got dragged into the conflict. She isn't romanticizing war either. And if people do sympathize with the military or the Japanese govt bc of this manga for some reason, then they need to pick up an actual history book and educate themselves. I can still enjoy this manga even if I'm aware of the not so pretty history. There were ofc soldiers who did terrible things during the war, but this is a comedy, josei manga. If you want factual representation of the war, this manga is not that. You're better off reading a history book.

    bookmunchies November 15, 2020 9:36 pm

? Enjoy it all you want, who said anything about that? ''It is an honor to fight' is the thing that gets mentioned most which does shift the perspective. I never said I was reading this for war representation either so your end statement is kinda useless and unnecessary. Don't get why your type always has the need to advise ppl to read smth else. All work has good points and bad points, this is this works bad point, everyone has different criteria of judging things and different deal breakers in content. As for the creator's intent, it could be this or that, sometimes it gets across well, sometimes it fails and is used in bad ways.

Maybe it’s bc u don‘t know much, but it is Kind of obvious the writer would write this part of the story like that. she is not writing propaganda, she is writing about the sad truth that the characters have go through, losing someone and being powerless.

I’ve seen a lot of people address the war crimes that were committed and most of the replies were apologies from people who were sincerely sorry for crimes they never committed but acknowledge.

I'm getting bored of this, if you can't see it you can't see it. You don't want to see it from this angle, that's that.
For the person who replied last, the start of your reply seems more like provocation than anything, because from my point of view, you're the ignorant one.

nah I get what u mean like we could spend a long time pointing out the moments that seem like what looks like propaganda. the Mangaka had to write it like that bc it is just how it was back then, people shouting pro war and being patriotic.

But u don’t see how the main focus are the characters showing us how they suffered and go through hard times and that war is bad, even worse for the powerless.

No one felt sympathetic for the jp military instead they felt bad for the poor civilians.
the focus was them having to go to war, not about the war itself.
I do hope that people everywhere are taught the truth and be respectful of others.

Stop talking about war crimes if u are so one-sided, no one is going to rank each country for the shit that they did during war.

    Hime November 16, 2020 12:57 am

Instead of celebrating co*klumbus day, we should celebrate indigenous people day and stop harassing them.
The crimes he committed that were noted in his journal, have u read about them?

    AiraIchigo December 6, 2020 6:40 pm

The author wrote this not for us to sympathize with the war or the military, but to understand the civillains who got dragged into this. Not all japanese were happy to be in WW II, but they had no choice. If they got the order, it was either following it or your whole family being branded as traitors and got bad thing happened to them. So, the only way was to go to war.

And the "fight for honor thing", yes, it was partly cultural, but it was also to avoid bad thing. In this period, if a japanese was heard saying the exact opposite, or not saying anything at all, there is a high chance that they will get reported as traitor, and well, like above, bad things happened. So even if they did not think like that, they HAD TO SAY IT.

It's true that there are some who enjoy wars, but there are many who were forced into it, cuz it they didn't go, there family could very well be killed. In situations like this, what do you think they should do? Just go against the emperor?

So while it is a fact that the japan did bad things during WW II, the people themselves were victims, too. There were no choice for them in the first place.
