This part of the flashback arc is going a bit more fast paced than I had hoped. It's a bit disappointing since jiang cheng's final moments with both of his parents were really emotional. Not to mention madam yu went off on wei ying and fengmian's goodbye to him was kinda cold (but it was cuz he finally treated jc like his own son I guess).
Just one question if you don't mind. Did you read the novel, watch the drama or both?
I've pretty much read or watched everything to do with mdzs except for the audio drama I was hesitant with the drama since when it comes to BL series it's always going to be loosely based (and bromance) at best.
Oh. Same. But I asked because it's been a while since the last time I read the novel and i don't remember the flash backs (this one specifically) being too developed in the novel either. If anything, i think the drama made it too long but I understand since they needed to explain, one way or another, Wei Ying's background story. But if i remember correctly, this is how it happened in the novel too. The manhua is following pretty good the novel, except for some censorship here and there due to censorship's law. But I think I'll read the novel again and correct myself if I'm wrong lol
Hey, so first off I would definitely recommend you reread the novel again. I've been planning on doing it too, the story is just that great lol. As for this particular scene, there's a reason why I remember it being more detailed than what was shown in the manhua. When I started reading the novel, at one point I ended up taking a short break from it, so when I picked it back up after seeing there were new chapters (thank you exr team!), the donghua had just premiered. So I was able to keep up with the story because I was reading the novel again in real time with a new episode coming out every week. So when that scene in particular came up in the donghua, I remember being extremely upset at how they decided to portray that scene. As someone who understood for the most part the relationship between the parents, and we did get a good understanding on how madam yu felt and how fengmian felt (I mean yanli's romance was a parallel to her parents, it's just her love was actually mutual in the end), the donghua portrayed that poorly. At least they did for the father, they made him like some yes dear, lovesick puppy who'd do whatever it may be to please his wife. So much that they changed him being a responsible sect leader who went away to collect his kids (jc and wwx) swords that the wen's had, to him getting a hairpin repaired (that he never gave madam yu to begin with in the novel) simply because she broke it out of anger. Now I know I'm rambling but the way the donghua portrayed him always irked me. Yeah he wasn't the best father which sucked for jiang cheng, and wasn't the best husband (while he eventually agreed to the arranged marriage, he did still love wwx's mom at the time) but he was still a well respected sect leader. That is something they took away from his character, so him leaving to repair a stupid hairpin and not get their swords already irked me. So when the scene that I waited for, him finding the two boys tied up by her zidian(?) and having his first real and final emotional moment with his son, did not happen I was rightfully pissed. Granted it wasn't long, but he did talk to them, I believe he told them where they could find yanli too and had a short but sweet and real moment with jiang cheng. And if I remember correctly all he really said to wwx was to protect jc, then he had them tied back up again and left. Now the drama of course went overboard because why wouldn't they
I still don't like the manager. What she set up before was just wrong. Also for 2021, can both wecom*cs and webcom*cs hire better translators PLEASE?! It's absurd how incomprehensible a lot of these chapters are because of the half-assed translations.
Thank you to the translator for continuing such a good story! Also a shame everyone he becomes friends with are jerks and actually hates him instead. :/ I honestly didn't suspect to pink haired guy until he made that face a few chapters ago.
The original uploader, the team that has been kind enough to give us ALL the previous chapters are still updating the series they are working on. Meaning they are still working on this one. I understand if this translator wanted to try their hand at something, but PLEASE leave this series alone and allow the translation group to re-upload this chapter with their version and continue on. People may call it mean, and I know many are unfortunately impatient when it comes to "slow" updates, but there are many who do appreciate the time and effort many groups go through to give us clean, redrawn and good translated works.

I've seen the raws for this story and I love the couple! Or at least I hope they do end up becoming an official one. It is a shame no group will be picking this up since we don't know when this will be serialized (much like what was said about dear d00r) but I hope it's either lezh*n or tappyt00n that licenses it.
