Dan was preoccupied with debts, poverty, and his Grandmother, preventing him from having friends and being able to enjoy his youth, hence the inability to properly connect and communicate.
Jaekyung on the other hand, we still have no clue.
His past has not been revealed yet, but the way he flinched after seeing Dan’s reaction is a sign of his slow progress.
We know that Jaekyung is brutal, abusive (to his partners at least), and is rude (which are inexcusable traits). But seeing as how he didn’t physically harm Dan during the latest chapter might be an indication of him slowly mellowing down.
