Ok I really like the chapters where the mangaka talked about rape (where the other little girly guy was saying that it'd be horrible with his first time was with a rapist) and that Maya realized what he did and deeply regrets it. BUT Nemu-chan's reaction just felt so trivializing that it was like ??????????

I was so happy too! Because most mangas tend to romanticize rape and this IS how this manga started out. So seeing the rapist making amends I felt so happy, but seeing the victim so mellow about it, it's just like ?????? I personally hope that it could have been at least a serious discussion between Maya and Nemu instead of Nemu being like "oh what!! It's just that?? Geez don't make me worry". Of all kinds of lines, it had to be such trivializing words.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeh, IAWY. It just feels like a fanservice than a real discussion about one because it still panders to the rape is love trope of the manga world. It's like the mangaka got under pressure from someone and decided to throw a small bone. So halfbaked. This is why though I enjoyed HS, I can never be fully on board with it. Too many problematic characters, too many fanatics doing mental callisthenics to defend them as well.

Ahh, finally understood what was nagging at me. I was glad that the mangaka addressed rape but I felt like the chapter was wasted on what could've been a meaningful discussion about it. There are a lot of younger kids reading manga, and I thought it could've been a good eye opener.

Ehhhhh where's the chapter where Hashibara dressed up as a girl during "last year's" school festival?

And I swear the japanese school tradition of having a school festival is so cool and such a great way to make memories in school. Wish I could experience that as well

Regardless, Mama's done for. I highly doubt she'll be given a second chance since she was forced to sound the alarm

    Carmelazation April 22, 2017 2:18 pm

I wonder, is the alarm audible to the kids or only to the plantation workers? Sorry if it's obvious and I haven't realized though.

If it's for all to hear... they ain't be having any more children stay there for a long time.

Wait I am SO confused. Who exactly is Meredith to Rood/King??????

    Melfina April 13, 2017 6:13 am

I think that meredith created by the excessive power of the tower, he must be the one who rood calls brother in the past, only that he was reborn as a fragment of the power remaining from that corpse. To cut it short meredith is the corpse (previous king) brother of rood. Did that mak sense? Or did I make it more complicated? Its just a guess though.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Merideth is the giant they were getting power from, but I don't know how or why he became the human looking Merideth. And the giant was the King's brother, or at least that's what Merideth calls the king.

I still wonder though, whether he was born with no power, and somehow acquired it through some methods

Yeah I did but I was thinking, what if, plot twist. At first I def believed that he was born with the power and still kind of do, but I started thinking, well where does the book "Unordinary" comes in then?

I ain't know nothing at this point dealing with John power....I don't know what it is, if he was born with it or nothin. Because in the beginning of this it felt it wasn't his power....and another I don't understand is what green hair girl helped him out with ( ̄へ ̄)so yah, I'm not gonna assume nothin till it is revealed ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

You know how Seraphina is a level 8 power wise? I'm thinking he's 10 or above so that makes him out of the ordinary range of powers hence: unordinary. But well that's my guess.

Maybe it's also because of the way he thinks, that the powerful shouldn't trample on the weak which is not the way everyone else thinks.

These are my guesses for the title anyway

There's still something I don't quite get. Yes the MC never raped any of them, but he ultimately coerced them and left them with no choice.

I really like the MC, and I understand in this structure of society, sex slaves and etc are normal and they're treated very well in his community.

It's just for the elves and humans - they're being forced to stay aren't they? They were coerced into it. So once they've gotten the trust to roam around freely, they could have escaped. I'm just not understanding why they wouldn't want to escape or go home, even if you're treated very well. You'd at least want to go back home right?

    ChibiMichie April 12, 2017 4:27 pm

the humans are adventurers who came upon the ogres and were defeated. They saw benefit in staying with the ogres after being captured and even leveled their skills to be better than what they would be. Also they came to fall in love with the leader and happen to be content with living with the ogres. They are only thinking of their troop and not of home, where life is way harder since as an adventurer, you'll have to go through dangers to make a living. Most adventurers dont stay with their parent anymore.

    ChibiMichie April 12, 2017 4:30 pm

as for the elves, they were enslaved because they came to attack with bad intentions not wanting to give up. I think they were given aphrodisiac to give in to lust. And as prideful as elves were, after being tainted, they wouldn't want to head back home even if they could. + i think they might have sworn to the leader to follow him. the female slaves have accepted the ogres way of life now and are content with the way they live. so its not enslaving the other race anymore although they didn't have a choice to leave in the beginning as such was their punishment. You just gotta be part of it to be freed from the punishment.

That's the problem I have with this manga too...

    Kuinshi April 12, 2017 5:34 pm

Why leave when you get much better living opportunities when you stay. As far as I can tell the motto is "You don't work, you don't eat." Where as the motto outside the goblin community is "Every man for himself, unless you're a noble."

    Gaby_mak April 12, 2017 8:34 pm

That is what you call stockholm syndrome. It is a condition that causes hostages to develop a psychological alliance with their captors as a survival strategy during captivity in the end those feelings are assimilated by the hostage making them feel at home without that being true. In some cases the victims are capable of "changing factions" and strat seeing their old acquaintances as new enemies. Hope you understood ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Point taken but consider this. If one is given the option of either:
    1. Stay and be protected. Learn and get stronger. Be given food, clothes, a sense of community and a job. The sex is an added bonus.
    Or
    2. Leave and hope you can make it to a human settlement without being robbed, murdered, or raped by monsters, demihumans or humans. No job security and if you tell people what happened they might declare war on the goblin tribe and kill your friends and benefactors.

But above all remember, this is make believe!! I mean the guy eats his own kind and the treatment of prisoners is your greater concern?

it has nothing to do with stockholm syndrome. nowadays ppl just keep making out everything as a psychological sickness to justify things. if they werent monsters but humans, they'll be treated the same way after being captured. even then the treatment they'd get is far worse because humans tend to make the lives of their opponent much harder, working them out as slaves for themselves to prove their power so others submit to it or at least wouldn't want to find themselves in that situation.
some people really need to quit saying everything is stockholm syndrome when its a fucking strategy to have the enemy to not fight back.

Lol yeah the fact that he's a cannibalist completely slipped my mind. Honestly though if I had the consumption ability, I'd do the same. And as disgusting as it is, in a real life situation, if you were starved to the point that you're not thinking straight, can you say you'll never eat human meat? I can't simply because I can't guarantee I'll be able to say no to food in a life-threatening situation.

    chic April 13, 2017 7:40 am

Except for the male humans. If they are not smart, strong and good looking, they ended up on the dinner plate.
Male elves at least were kept alive as sex slaves and sperm banks.

    Ghost August 1, 2018 5:32 am

Sorry if this is too latr of an answer but here is my shot at this.
    1. Human males (the poor priest) and male Elves were kept alive for sperm banks and sex slaves.
    2. Ogarou every day gave them Aphrodisiac, to help to make sure they didn't die. And because he remembers the woman that he freed in the beginning (killed) he doesn't really force them. He would have killed them if they really didn't want to be sex slaves.
    3. Second the human woman and men that were captured as sex slaves had the same thing happen to them. The rest were only prisoners of war, therefore technically not many humans were kept. For regular war reasons not enough rations to feed them and because they have no use for them if they are ugly and weak reason weak offsprings and personal preference. Reason why not many human males were kept.
    4. The reason Elves don't go is because one: for the Elves they had already accepted Ogarou as their leader. They understood they were goods of the war. The stupid Prince (their leader) was dead. Had peircings. (Considered a shame in their culture.) And the earrings on their ear is an obedience earrings, they probably don't want to be used as spies, and he let them see the sacred ceremony of the dead, meaning they still have privileges more than any casual sex slaves and are allowed to train their rank.

    Ghost August 1, 2018 5:43 am

    5. The few remaining humans on the other hand, yes they have privileges, since even though used as tools like a chess piece at one point, they are still allowed to train.
    6. Some humans did leave at some point after the war was over, but I'm guessing the few humans that stayed for the same reasons as the knight chic and dude, they respected more the society of the Goblings then those of their own culture. Some of the chics got pregnant I'm guessing they either want to stay because of their babies or want to stay until they give birth to the babies so to leave them behind. Most of the humans were of high society rankings most I think feel wrong to go back home the way they have become after the war. Even though they will have high social rank once back home, they are not mistreated, are allowed three days off every week, so they can be trained to do anything, having new lives with the Goblings.

You know, given that the setting is in high school, some kids are seriously messed up. I'm sure such things happen in the real world too, and that's what freaks me out...Is that some people are really able to do horrendous things

    haruharu April 11, 2017 12:52 am

Unfortunately that is very much of the reality. in Korea bullying in high school is one of the known things that lead to suicides and on top of bullying u have the parent that want their children to have full point when the south-Korean examination system is one of the difficult world wide systems, a part of me is very thankful that i"m wasn't born in Korea (but that doesn't mean that south Korea is a bad country at all, just high school life is a bit tooooo difficult) ┗( T﹏T )┛

Why are you all hating on Fumi! Yes I really didn't like her at first because of her words which was hurting Akira, and really she should have given more thoughts to her words. But realistically, if it were you, how much of your emotions can you even contain?

This latest chapter tho, I have to give it to Fumi. Akira IS spoiled by Makoto's kindness, and she NEEDS to give more thoughts to his feelings. Granted, suddenly being thrusted into this is difficult for Akira, and I think she does deserve those 3 days away from Makoto, but now is the time to start thinking

Mochi April 9, 2017 6:12 am

Just about all of us here are like the MC right?

Goddamn I'm just gonna come out and say it. I WANT TO HAVE SEXXX

Virgin AF. Only kissed a girl before because of truth-or-dare. Bruh I like guys. Most likely will not get a boyfriend until like 22 or something, HOPEFULLY because that'd mean I'll only have to wait 1 year+.

Omg I'm so sexually and emotionally deprived I ain't even kidding. I'm gonna do all these things once I get a boyfriend.

Mochi April 7, 2017 8:28 pm

Oh boy. I really hope that the one kid that got left behind is in the plan as well. But I can't imagine how they could've included such a small kid in this risky plan and having him stay behind. Really really excited for the next chapter!!!!!
